My friend suggested this deck to me since I'm completely new to this game and I just wanted to see other people's opinions on it.  I'm mainly using it for AI3 and PVP1 and it seems to be doing ok, my real question is whether or not I should replace some of the pendulums with other/better destruction cards like Rage Potion and Deflag.

It actually depends if after some games you have way more quanta than what you need.

If you really need a utility card or 2 for a specific enemy, do consider replacing pends with them. For instance, if you get annoyed with the AI3 dimshield, you can sub in a deflag.
How does the quanta flow goes anyways? How often do you fail to drop a key card due to insufficient quanta? Or how many turns does it take for you to reach the point that you have too much quanta to spend? Not sure with the :fire but the :water looks like it might have some overflow.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

you could definitely swap a pendulum for another rage potion or an extra deflagration.

on steam machine decks, it is important to know when to stop feeding the machines so your  :fire can be directed to your support cards. its not vital to feed your machines every turn if it means you getting rid of a shield or an annoying creature. Also, take in consideration that rage potion can also be used as a sudden attack boost for your machines, although it should only be used in the last turns because it will render your machine very vulnerable to all CC

It ~looks~ like you have too little fire early game and too much late game, and the opposite for water (too much early game, too little late game).

But swapping pends would put too much strain on water quanta imo.  If  :fire is the problem quanta, then I'd take out a pend or two, add a water pillar and a rage/deflag, as you need it, since  :water is running a QI of 5 as is (and SM decks are neither overly rushy or overly stall-y, so 5 works imo).

That being said, it is true that you can use CC/PC instead of pumping your steamies, but ideally, one would do both, in which case is removing quanta sources really the right option?  Really, the card to replace MIGHT be the second ice shield...just food for thought.
Walk towards the :light...

maybe change some pends for pillar? if so, how many and what type?

i tried changing 3 pends for 3  :fire pillars and another 2 pends for 2  :water pillars although that seems kinda messy
