Technically, you've already built a trio. Those two Animate Weapon spell do count for a trio. We're not that pedantic.

While permanent control can be useful in a lot of situations (namely, going against Emphatic Bond decks, lel), a lot of times you might find that all you need is some rewinding spells, thorns and emphatic bonds to negate your opponent. And since you have Eternity in your deck, you have no risk in actually running out of cards. Scorpions also provide some soft CC control against devouring creatures, such as Otyughs or Scarabs.
