Hmm...Feeding Oty with Phoenix ? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=38042.msg477159#msg477159

Not sure if this is posted before, I got this combo when using SoSe which gave me a Oty and a Phoenix.

Since the Oty was unupped, it was simply too small to be effective. Then I fed him with my Phoenix repeatedly until my Oty reached insanely high HP.

Can this be a viable deck idea ?

Eating from a creature generating source+boneyard sounds more usable to me.
Or continuously kill phoenix to exploit death effects?
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

Death+Gravity is a good combo, but a trio with fire would be bad

Gravity+Fire could work, toss in some Fire eaters and it sounds like it would work

Eating Phoenix using Oty is generally a bad idea for a deck combo, as the Phoenix can deal more damage if not interrupted by its constant rebirth. It is, however, a good tactical move to be done in a battle when you need to eat that one Dragon fast. Thus i recommend against this idea.

Oty + FFQ + Boneyard + Fallen Elf is good.

The problem with a phoenix-oty (unupgraded) combo is that it takes 4 (otyugh) + 7(phoenix) + 1(devour) + 2(devour+rebirth) + 2(devour+rebirth) = 16 quanta and 3 turns to do the same thing you could do with 4(otyugh) + 1(plate armor) = 5 quanta and 1 turn. Is trading 3 turns of not devouring and 11 quanta for 10 attack really worth it?

It's a lousy idea to base a deck on, because it's too slow.  If you really need to kill that crimson dragon or something, it can be worth it, though, and if you're facing sundials, dimshields, SoSa, etc, you can eat the phoenix when it's not doing anything anyway.  It's a good idea to keep in the back of your mind for unusual situations, but it would be ineffective as a main strategy.

Yes. Because sacrificing 7|4 damage per turn is very worth the +1|+1 for another creature. You can do this once or twice to buff an oty so it can eat more, but making an entire deck revolve around this concept is very silly. Just add plate armor if you want an oty heavy deck.

The Oty + Phoenix combo is too slow and to costly. You can rebirth the Phoenix only every 2 rounds makes it very slow. Better use a death + gravity (boneyard / aflatoxin) or a life + gravity (FFQ) combination.

If using gravity/earth or gravity/earth/life you can use as already mentioned a plate armor (or even better the upped version). If you use life and have adren in the deck you can even apply basilisk blood to the Oty and then an adrenaline. This helps the freezing from the blood being reduced to 1 round resulting in big 0/23 Oty which eats thru the opponents creatures like a lawnmower.
