I have no idea how you defeated him with this deck. I tried it, and we just both had a full field of Pests, then I decked out. Also, he got Shields with stolen Mindgates.

This deck worked really well!  I had a few upped dark cards, but it would likely work just as well unupped.

100%? You underestimate the ability of the RNG to screw you over.

This. I've lost with that deck plenty of times (and I assure you I know how to play it properly). Bottomdecking sanctuaries is a loss (frequently). Bottomdecking either both quints or both golems is a loss (even if you get a protected sanctuary and everything else out, not drawing any damage at all until you've got 4 cards or whatever left in your deck is going to end badly). Bottomdecking too many pillars while decay gets an early fractal is probably a loss. Etc.

That said, I do find the rainbow unupped deck to be better than the duo unupped deck, but the duo doesn't rely on pulverizers. I have found the duo unupped deck to be the top rareless unupped deck for decay, but if you have the pulverizers I'd definitely recommend the rainbow.

I'd say the pulvy rainbow (fully unupped) comes in around 75-85% win rate. I'm less accurate at guessing for the duo (fully unupped) as most of my alts have pulvies, but it feels more like 65-75%.

But how? Decay's damage and initial quanta sap is so slow (if you use quantum pillars and you get them from the first round). If you didn't get any Sanctuaries until his first Fractal, then you must have had Serious RNG.
But I guess you already said that ^^" :

100%? You underestimate the ability of the RNG to screw you over.

Also, bottomdecking 6 sanctuaries has also to do something with RNG, but still, the winning rate was 100% for me. :P

Edit: I got +1 win with the mentioned deck again versus Decay this morning. :P

Then I guess this was only true for myself. I edited my original post, so now I won't confuse anyone. Of course, I was so keen on this deck that I totally forgot that there can't be any deck with 100% winrate, because of RNG.

This bow seems to work very well for me as well. Hasn't failed me yet... Although, I do use something very similar to what is shown above rather than a fully unupped version, so the speed may make a big difference.
The strategy seems very solid though.

One thing that may be hurting some players is if they forget to wait to play the golems until they can protect him. If you don't wait, they end up as siphon fodder.
Similarly, its good make sure you either protect your first sanc. with EA or wait till he wastes some of his steals on pillars and hourglasses... Although with that many Quantum Pillars, you should be able to simply outproduce his drain. (8 quantum pillars will outproduce a full field of devourers by a net of +2 quanta, counting mark gen).
