Yes. It reduces Phoenixes to little Skellies. It can slaughter fire rush if it doesn't pack Deflags.

Much needed buff to the shield, the effect is quite interesting, but the poor phoenixes! While playtesting it I find it could use a +1 to the cost, but is otherwise fine. I feel like this card is also a buff to RT and Eternity because of skellies new Fate Egg effect. Its a buff to so much and nerf to what needed to be nerfed. All in all, good job zanz

But it doesn't work as well as those shields. Compared to fire buckler, which will kill an enemy in x turns, where x is their health, this shield will, on average, kill an enemy in about 2x turns. The chance to transform is 1/2 for 1hp, 1/4 for 2 hp, 1/6 for 3 hp, and so on.
In fact, it's a matter of probabilities. Exemple with a 2 HP creature :
Turn 1 -> 75% survive
If the creature survived turn 1, Turn 2 -> 75% to survive => odds that creature survives are 75% * 75% etc.

So, probabilities you kill the 2 HP creature before or at turn 5 = 3/4
And if you want to be mostly sure it dies, at 8th turn the probs go up to 90%
Compare with fire buckler, who kills with certitude in HP turns...

We're getting off-topic here but....heavy armor, blessing, momentum, chaos power (and basilisk blood) can also add hp.
Yes.

They add HP. And I think the bonus HP works against the skull wall...

i seem to have found 2 skull shield bugs in the same game. skull shield turns creatures into unupped skeletons, and my physalia turned into an upgraded one, and my graboid turned into a burrowed upped skele that had full attack and couldnt unborrow.

Im not sure about the burrowing, but skull shield turns unupped creatuers into unupped ones, and upped creatures into upped ones. Also, Im pretty sure in development bugs are meant to be posted in the in development section.

edit

looks like you are using a fully upped deck though... so strange....

Currently both the things you pointed out are intended

- An Upped creature hit by skull shield becomes an upped skeleton, a basic creature becomes a basic skeleton

- A creature hit by skull shield retains all its current status, Invulnerable, Burrowed, adrenaline, momentum,

Yes, except not momentum.  That would be one of those paradoxes.

I think the chance to convert critters to skeletons is way too huge.

I think the exaggeration on that comment is way too huge.

Seriously speaking the effect is good, but not OP. It's actually quite well balanced if you compare it with Fire Buckler or Gravity Shield. All those 3 make many creatures useless, but they all leave ways open to deal lots of damage with creatures. Only difference is that while FB and GS are absolutely predictable, Skull Buckler has that RNG effect encoded in it. That is the sole reason why it may seem better/worse than what it is depending whether it's used against you or you're using it. See the infamous Dusk/Fog-effect.
