While the card is powerful, we do not all agree that it is still OP.

The opponent will only play SoS when you field 11|9 or more damage per turn. If you field 10 damage per turn they become dead draws. It is an antirush card and can be beaten with thought (try stalling with 10 damage per turn?).

Alternatively field 11|9 damage per turn causing them to use their SoSs and then unload with your reserved offense.

As for the CC, you are right that the text should be more specific and mention your damage and healing is swapped. However this is also evident in that SoS is played on you not your creatures.
It isn't difficult to have 11|9 damage and You don't need rush deck to have it in 3-5 turn. I know that powerful doesn't mean OP. But as we can see, this Shard evokes the most negative feeling in players. 40|32 is too much for rush deck, but less sacrifice HP means more OP. I don't like this card as is now. Sacrifice should be sacrifice, not mathematic counting is it profitable. This shard should works like "Opps, I will lose this game in next turn, but wait I have LAST CHANCE, SoS. All or nothing, I use it". SoS should be card like emergency, something like Miracle. Now it isn't. I use it to have EM or when I have about 50 HP. It is bad. I should use it when I have really problems.

In my opinion after SoS players should lose game if he didn't won earlier. This card should end of the game. Now it is used in middle part of game.
40|32 can be sacrificed in a rush deck. However SoS in a rush deck is usually only useful to turn the tide against faster rush decks.

I agree that this Shard could have a better name. A sacrifice should be of a different resource than the card provides (see Cremation, Virus, Catapult ...). However that is an unlikely change.

that wasnt really a serious suggestion oldtrees. :) considering the point of the shard is to hurt yourself, it would be difficult to find a virture that adequately represented it. but lets see.....

shard of:
Meekness (feeling of patient, submissive humbleness. patient in long suffering)
Purity (Freedom from defilement, Unsullied by sin or moral wrong)
Tolerance (Tending to permit, allow, understand, or accept something; tending to withstand or survive.)

not sure any of those are improvements on shard of sacrifice. obviously sacrifice seems to portray the point of the card better.

How are you supposed to counter this? I believe it should be only physical damage, which would make spell damage a decent counter here.

Technically you can counter it with holy flash/ holy light. you heal the opponent for ten hp. which in this case would damage it. it is effective against ai cause they tend to have a bad habit of using Shard of sacrifice multiple times per turn, leaving them with a small amount of hp.

its kindof amusing that a light card here is the anti death shard.

also you can stall with sundial. to prevent healing during your attack phase.

If anything it might be good to reduce the turns this card is active to 1 like sundial because the way the card works, healing yourself for all the opponents attack, that usually means that unless they have a bunch of creatures in reserve, they are going to heal you for two turns, then take another two turns to take all that healing off, resulting in a stall of 4 turns, which is way more powerfull that something like dimensional shield which stalls for 3 and doesnt prevent all kinds of damage. Make the card last for 1 turn and you get an equivalent 2 turn stall, which is worse than dimensional shield but it protects you from all damage sources, which still makes it a damn good card.

Why is everybody talking about 11|9 as the threshold?

It says: "lasts 2 turns" on there ...

You take 40 damage.  Then, you prevent 22 damage over the 2 turns, gaining 22 life, to a net gain of 4 life.  Similar math works out for the 9 damage upped.

Any lower amount of damage on your opponent's side of the field ends up breaking even or worse.

Oh ok ... people calculate "damage they would have taken" plus "damage turned to healing". Thanks
