Please post your ideas for combating in this thread. 

Decks that you think would be effective specifically, but feel free to discuss concerns, perceived weaknesses and strengths against their element, cards you think would be effective, and assumptions about how they would choose to face Darkness decks if you were building decks against us.

Light has relatively few offensive threats, pegasus, golden dragon and morning star.  Bone wall and/or dim shield could probably be effective here.  But light is also another element I percieve as high quanta, meaning earthquake earthquake earthquake discord discord devourer!  I think we stand a good chance with any deck that doesn't rely on Darkness creatures that can be holy flash'd.

they might also use stall tactic with miracles and flying morning stars and reflective shield (to negate drain life) but again, high quanta usage
earthquake will wreck one way or another UNLESS they decide to go all out stall (light/earth with miracles, stone skins and protect artifacts)

I bet you that there's a 95% chance that they'll be using a Earth-Light duo stall against us, with Holy Flashes for added insult (to either damage our creatures or to heal themselves because they're so cheap). Hell, even a mono-light stall can still screw us over if they have the quanta generation going.



But aside from that, I wouldn't question their strategy of using a Divine Glory deck against us, with Deflag (if xdude is using the deck for free Animated Weapons) to remove Dusk Shield and the like so we can't avoid some of the damage.


Do you think they'll be using Hope against us?

Hope is risky, without RoLs it takes a lot of cards to set it up, but it can't hurt to be prepared to deal with it.

in my matchup against implosion he did indeed pack holy lights for cc, so the reasoning to use non-dark offense was sound thinking. In hindsight (even before the match, after deck submission) I realized that phase drags were slow and expensive, and probably a mistake given that he could use morning stars in offense (he used phoenix, just as bad) or mirror shield (he did) rendering lightning ineffective. If I was to do it all over again I would have used the graboids if they were available (they weren't) or some sort of lycan deck maybe.

i think we can go fractal or even mono darkness next time because they've embedded in their mind that we're gonna be using protected creatures / non-darkness creatures against them

man i hate phoenix more than anything else

we need to be less dependent on darkness creatures and employ some other OP creatures like phoenix ourselves

Actually, let me add to my previous posting: I believe I made a mistake. I used 2 dl and 1 lightning to kill one phoenix/ash midgame, and in hindsight I MAY have won if I had just ashed it 3 seperate times instead. MAYBE... and he had a bad draw.  lol.

A scary thing to note is that they can actually build THREE types of bolt decks. The only way to counter them is by using either the reflective shield (which is problematic, as they might pack one in case to bypass our shield anyway), or major quanta control (which is easy, save for the fact that Holy Lights and other CC would ruin that strategy). Earthquake and Discord might be good counters against the winning bolt-decks.

Note - asymmetry won against kevkev60614 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,15613.0.html) in Round 3 as well, and he ALSO had a Fire-Stall bolt deck, which means that they probably have 4 bolt-decks in their arsenal... we might want to remember this for future rounds.
