It may be a thematic issue but that is the nature of shards.
It's not just thematic. There is a reason for 12 different elements to exist. Otherwise you would just pay "generic quanta" for every card. If a card is available to every element, it will have a different impact on the metagame than a card available to only one element. For instance, SoS stalling will be possible for every element: that creates many more possible stall decks than just having a new :death card. All decks with SoS and cheap stall cards / creatures / unavoidable damage. I believe the impact is way different...
Elemental dilution is the most severe of thematic issues. However that rule seems to be partially ignored for Shards. (I do not know why, nor do I agree, but Zanz has done so.) The metagame impact will not be severe (though it may be large) unless there is a synergy that has balance issues.

Humm.  One of the big advantages that this card has over Poison is that the damage inflicted cannot be healed back.  In saying that, I like this one quite a bit.

this will be good for the Fg decks and for pvping for one reason... miracle. It will make miracle do just a little bit less in terms of helping whoever played it...

Dunno, this shard right now as it stands seems to be a little weak, after all, if you deal more than 2-3 damage/turn against a non-healing opponent this shard loses its effect. IMO, to buff it and to remove some of the "situationality" of this card, I think it would be a great addition if the maxHP reduced from the opponent would in turn raise the user's maxHP. It would fit very nicely in many decks as there are plenty of healing cards associated with Darkness that could take advantage of increases in maxHP- just a thought!

This to me sounds like a very cool idea.... Are you also saying that it heals you for 2 as well? or 3 if your mark is of darkness?

of the new shards (so far), this is my favorite.  only minor issue is the name doesnt quite fit in with the rest of the shards to this point.
