Pretty interesting card. But, if it will allow for abuse of AI, than something must be changed; either in AI or in the card. That death/spark deck is the prime example of AI abuse. Maybe if cards given to AI hand by this card could get lower "play value" in the algorithm that decides what to play... As it is, its like a cheat card.
But anyway...

Taking this and Dune in the same deck cant be a good idea, but this is (IMO) the positive way to mess with your opponents hand. As much as I dislike Dune scorpio for taking away cards from hand, I have no issues with this type of card, and I agree that this approach could produce some new interesting PvP action.

Obviously, this card is a good counter to Fractal. I just hope Fractal card will be revisited, and this isnt just an excuse card "dont complain, counter with Nightmare". I still think Fractal is limiting new card ideas.

Oof. This card packs quite a punch against people who are reliant on having all of their cards ready in their hand to play all at once. Using this on a malignant cell (while having a protected eternity) would be amazing, especially if you had a shield also. You fill up their hands with useless cards, and preventing further card playing (they'll be drawing more malignant cells per turn, etc.).

...too bad you can't use this on permanents. >.>

I don't know why people think that Nightmare is good against control decks. It's really only good against the kind of decks that want to empty their hand and/or draw multiple cards per turn (larger decks with hourglass). Against decks that typically keep a full hand, Nightmare only gives them around two dummy cards. I'd say that's hardly threatening.

It's really only good against the kind of decks that want to empty their hand and/or draw multiple cards per turn (larger decks with hourglass).
I noted in my super awesome post on page two of this thread that Nightmare has little effect on hourglasses.  Suppose you use Nightmare on Paradox, who has an empty hand and four hourglasses out.  The first turn he doesn't draw, and discards one.  The second turn he draws one at the beginning of the turn (instead of two), very likely plays whatever card he draws, and then starts using hourglasses as usual.

The card does produce some interesting synergies, some of which I noted earlier and some of which nobody has thought of yet.

I can only think of one use to this: Counter-Fractal.

Let's say I fill my opponent (who is mono-life) with a vampires. Opponent will discard 1 vampire when he has a full hand. Opponent will never use the vampires, but just discard them. They still get draw 1 card, so it does nothing.

LOL. Remember how the last Trial of Darkness went? Me and Miniwally both used Fractal like crazy. And this card is Darkness as well...

ROFL.
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

Worst case, this card still stops 1 draw for 1 darkness, which isnt that bad of deal imo :P. It also definitely works well as a counter to fractals and such. I dont think its a card that will be too great to base a deck around, but it could be a useful addition to many decks.
