Title: Nightmare denial
Post by: truddy02 on August 04, 2010, 06:09:31 pm
This is a deck I came up with that takes advantage of the new card nightmare.  The blank cards are Nightmares.

The idea is straight denial.  I tested it against AI3 and was dominate but I never faced another darkness deck which would be a problem.  Against a darkness deck you may be able to nightmare dragons if you can get one out and keep your opponents quanta low but otherwise you would be screwed.

Strategy:

Play devourers first.  Then play nightmares so the opponent cannot draw for more towers.  Then steal any towers they have out (or any pesky shields or weapons).  Then when the opponent is locked down play the dragons and win.

Uhm, Nightmare only prevents drawing a card for one turn, after that one is simply discarded and there is room for the next card. Don't know if that's enough for an effective strategy. I thought more of Nightmare as an effective counter against the so popular Fractal (every card in your opponents hand that is junk is one less useful card from their Fractal :) ).

Doesn't this deck give so many bad draws?
Only 8  :darkness pillars, You can like only get 2 pillars and 4 dragons in the start, thus, making you almost lose the game, with little chances of winning.

The devourers also act as pillars as well boosting it to 14.

I know they work as pillars to, but they can be easily defeated, only 2 HP, with a single drain life or anything else can kill them easily. By the way, like I said in the other reply, you've got more then 50% of getting more bad hands.

With 8 pillars in a 30 card deck the chance of not getting any pillars in the first 7 cards is only 0.15%, so it depends on what you define to be a bad hand. One Pillar and the mark are enough to get a devourer out at turn 2 (unless you get really, really crappy hands and don't start with those, either). Though it could definetly use less Dragons, 4 or maybe even 3 would do the trick. Maybe add dusk shield/pillars instead. Or Drain Life.

This is a good idea.  Probably 3 dragons and 3 siphon lifes would work good to kill any creatures they get out early or use as a finishing blow.
