I meant beneficial when you use it on yourself...

That's kind of situational, but I could see Downgrading an Antimattered creature so it stops healing and starts doing damage again, or a low health Elite Armagio to essentially revive it.

I just thought of something: what would happen if you Downgraded/Upgraded a Chimera? Instant kill, since Chimera's base stats are 0/0? Or would the new Chimera be re-played, absorbing all creatures on its side (minus its previous self)?

Upgrading/Downgrading a Chimera would basically be replaying it - it would absorb all creatures on your field except it's old self as you stated.

Actually, there is. Malignant cells become 0|1 and immune to flooding when upped.
Yes, they're immune to flooding anyway but if you up them it says so on the card.

Yep - there's code and an old image for an upped malignant cell with 0|1 and 'Can not drown.' This is a remnant from when flooding affected neutral creatures (although later it was changed so the text was on Flooding)

I love this card. Whereas cards like Mummy give ways to access rares if you don't have them, this lets newbies access upgraded cards when they don't have them. And when upgraded, it can counter upgraded cards. It should, however, cost less. Say, 1 or 2 for each. I mean, is a 2-card-combo for a single upgraded card really that powerful with that pricetag?

I am patiently waiting for a behemoth FFQ (which makes light-generating fireflies to work with Hope, unlike the upgraded version) + Downgrade + Hope + Fractal + TU + Other shit rainbow deck to crush us all.

Creatures/spells? Unless we have completely different definitions of 'hand' and 'field', I think you misunderstood - it targets the player field like Lightning, Blessing, Explosion etc.... You can only target creatures and permanents that were played.

It's not as limited as it looks. Upgrade allows access to better creatures, cards, and abilities - for example it can be run with Angels to turn them into Archangels - a +6 | +1 boost. It can also act as a CC for Growth creatures since their stats reset - this might be necessarily if you need to slow down a Graviton Fire Eater or weaken a Lycanthrope to use other CC on it. Downgrade is more offensively oriented - upgraded cards turn back into their weaker (or unfit for the situartion) unupped versions and permanents will usually get a cost increase in ability use. Both versions can make Sundials/Timed Shields last one more turn as well. (Stolen Permanents with a timer gain +1 to their timer duration).

As for the target in hand, the community seems a bit iffy on coding - but I think if this card comes in the game that should be up to Zanz.

As I said, discard. You target a card when you discard.

In any case, a large cost decrease is warranted. 5 for a slightly better card and 4 for a weaker Rewind? I think not.
