how about use the left one for unupped and the right one for upped.  also what do you think about making this an earth card and fire activations spell so it is not over powered when you lower the activation cost and make it thunderstorm on a stick.

Could you explain why it would be OP? It's like Fire Shield except with a maintainence cost.  Also Fire Shield doesn't damage Antimattered creatures.

Having both played with and against Fire Shield I'm of the opinion that it is one of the strongest effects in the game.

True, but it is vulnerable to PC.  If it REALLY needs a nerf, then the ability cost can become 3  :fire .

OK. My turn.

I don't care who you are, 2 damage to all ENEMY creatures at a 2 cost activation is... well... ridonkulously over powered. You could make the initial cost really high and it still pays for itself in the long run. For the sake of balancing, if you're doing damage specifically to Enemy Creatures, increase the activation cost to 3 :fire .

On a different note, Fire already has so many options for controlling enemy creatures. Why not take this card in an entirely different direction?

Possibilities could include:
    2 :fire Destroy 1 random Permanent on your enemy's field - Initial play cost could stand to be cheaper if you've got explosion on a stick
    2 :fire Deal 3 dmg to the enemy's HP. A very slow damage on a stick permanent, but in large numbers with enough quanta... this could be trouble
    2 :fire A random enemy creature gains -1/+0. Affecting a creatures attack is something that hasn't been utilized much yet.
IMO, too many people associate fire with destroying creatures en mass. I'd like to see a lot more ideas popping up that involve other venues for fire to take advantage of. You could come up with a lot of different things for a Volcano to do, these were just some of mine.

On my first look, it looked OP, but when you think about it, it would only really be useful if you were up against low hp fractal or multiple creatures with no PC. I don't see many decks that fulfill ALL the requirements. Apart from perhaps fractal Giant frogs or RoL/Hope I can't really think of much that volcano can counter. Most AI has at least 1 type of PC, plus, most creatures in AI or PVP decks have 4+ hp so most of the time you would need 3 turns just to kill let's say a purple dragon. This would be a counter only for low Hp fractals.  Plus the card is vulnerable to PC and it would probably a top priority for AI to explosion/steal/BE/Pulvy. Volcano would be useful against Eternal Phoenix, Decay, Incarnate, Paradox, but 2 of those have a lot of Permanent Control.

However there are still some people who don't like the effect and if it had to be changed I would go with Napalm and change it to:

lava golems are the best creatures in the game cause I said so

cuz you can't really survive a lava flow...  :fire creatures, mabye it's cuz they're used to heat and stuff...

mebbe have it cost  :earth quanta and drain  :fire or something...
