Since no one asked it, I'm gonna change the focus here and ask --
Why does a Cell defend more (blocks 2 dmg) than a whole Panel? (1 damage.)

I feel like the names should be inverted, honestly. You upgrade a bunch of cells into a Panel, you don't turn a Panel into a Cell.

Also I have come up with an aether version of the card, same cost and effect just for aether:

Great idea , mass quanta production that pairs perfectly with the mass use of fractal (which you were trying to counter with the concept of this card).

Unless the opponent has some good spells like rain of fire I think D-shield would be better. Your opponent will be doing damage and unless they can use a spell in an impact full way they won't.

Also I shared the idea because somebody mentioned that other elements could use it.

Maybe you could change the wording a bit to make it easier to figure out what it does... something like:
"Shield: Reduces damage by 1.
Generates light quanta equal to twice the cost of any spell card played by opponent."

or if you go with an aether version instead you could use:

"Shield: Reduces damage by 1.
Generates aether quanta equal to twice the cost of any spell card played by opponent."

Personally I like it better as an aether shield since aether has a stronger thematic connection to spell cards / spell interaction mechanics. Also, aether currently lacks any form of quanta production outside of pillars and pendulums so the card would have much stronger impact in that element... and it would give mono-aether decks an option other than dim. shield for defense (which many people have been wanting to see, for various reasons). Again, much more impact in aether (which has 1 shield) rather than light (which has 3)

Mirror quanta is a pseudo quanta that means the quanta of your mark. Mirrors have sometimes been portrayed as gateways to other worlds, and aether is the dominion of dimensions.

Interesting idea... although when I hear mirror quanta it makes me think that it produces quanta matching the element of the spell that was cast (which would be situational, but could be fun w/ mindgates).
Matching mark quanta is definitely a much more useful effect though.

I feel pretty good about this idea, but I'm not happy with the names.

The theme is mirror and parallel universe. In this universe your opponent pays that much quanta, but in another you gain twice, and the shield is a "gateway". <- My reasoning anyway, any suggestions for the names?
