Assuming you gain 5 Sparks and have 1 already out:
3 + 15 = 18 x 2 = 36 damage in 1 turn for 3 Cards + 19  :underworld vs (2 x 12) + 6 = 30 damage in 1 turn for 4 cards + 24 :underworld .
Spark has better OTK potential and requires less quantum and less cards, Spirit has better longterm potential but requires more quantum and more cards.

9 :aether + 8 :air + 3 Cards
Assuming you gain 5 BL and have 1 already out:
5 + 25 = 30 x 2 = 60 damage in 1 turn for 3 cards + 17 :underworld vs  (2 x 12) + 12 = 42 damage in 1 turn for 4 cards + 15 :underworld .
BL has much better OTK potential despite costing 2 quantum more, and still requires 1 less card.
Spirit can maintain damage but has reduced initial damage and still requires more cards.

I think that is balanced in terms of damage, though I'm not sure if I should keep the HP buff or not. Added a poll on that.

Also, is this card's theme clear enough? If not, what could be done to make it more thematically fitting with the concept of "Freedom"?

yeah, i think you can find something more related to freedom- as if you have a field fully packed with these, is it really 'freedom' just because there are many that arent adjacent to one another?  a better use may be~ creatures without more than one creature adjacent to them gain +5|+0 ~ this may or may not impact the first sprite on itself, depending on how you define it.

in this original situation, just assuming you have 6 of these out and nothing else is involved (yet) you would have S S S S S S sprites, with attacks of 10, 8, 8, 8, 8, 10, a total of 52 damage for 18 air and 6 cards, a ratio of 52/18 is almost a 3|1 ratio (2.9), which is pretty spectacular.  at 3 quanta, they are a reasonable fractal target as well, not just freebies.  (unless my understanding of the current mechanic is incorrect)

Hmm. I guess longterm damage has a much bigger value than I though it would in this card.

I'd like to ask what people think of the following change to the ability:

"Gains +2 | +1 for every creature not contiguous to it."

A contiguous creature is every creature 'touching' any group of creatures next to Poet's Soul. This results in any creature being played in between two Spirits (or any "chain" of creatures the Spirit is next to) canceling out buffs and in turn weakening the Fractal and instant 6-card rush potential.

Would this be a good change for the card?

that makes sense to me, as after the first 7 are put into play, it would stop functioning, unless some measure of PC was used to break them apart.

By limiting their creatures to 8 by killing/RTing/sacrificing 7 creatures (1-7) they get +14|+7 [104 total]

Larger Islands
4 creatures, 0 removal -> 3x +2|+1, 1x +6|+3 [12 total]
14(16) creatures, slots 4&5 being removed -> 6x +16|+8, 3x +22|+11, 5x +18|+9 [252 total]
16(17) creatures, slot 1 being removed -> 9x +14|+7, 7x +18|+9 [252 total]

Wind Sprite + Fractal (assuming +6) + Shockwave
Cost: 3 cards + 30 :air + 10 :aether ~= 44cu
Effect: 6 8|5s (~8 cu each) = 48cu (almost 2 turn clock)

This will max out to a bump of (23-9)*(+2/+1) for a total of +28/+14 if all slots except adjacent ones are filled (assuming it is played in a central square)... may work well with catapult since you can sacrifice adjacent creatures to maximize its buff.
It would be best, strategically, to play these into the corners since there would be fewer adjacent slots then... that would max out at (23-4)*(+2/+1) -> +38/+19
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

44/48 is ~1 cost/damage ratio, which is much more balanced than before.

So by contiguous, do you mean not connected as by a chain... Ultimate upper level damage cap will be the same, but will then take far more skill to achieve. I definitely think that would prevent it from being OP... I definitely see catapults and otyughs being very useful as combos
