NOTES:
Originally: Stone Barrier | Stone Wall (spell, see second spoiler below)

The idea is that after a successful attack, there will be a time bubble that is produced, surrounding the owner if the card, preventing a set amount of damage from being incurred when your opponent attacks back.  Essentially, it is a damage absorption twist on a vampire.  Damage absorption is only applied to physical damage, not spells or poison.  Fahrenheit damage and Owl's Eye's "shoot" are considered physical.

The ability is considered "active" and lobo-able to be aligned with the vampire ability.

The damage absorption kicks in after the shield takes effect, so if used with turtle shield, the creature will be delayed first and then its damage blocked.  If using titanium shield, the shield will reduce the incoming damage and then the damage absorption will be applied to the remaining damage.  If a creature has an "on successful attack" ability, it will be considered a successful attack if any damage makes it through the damage absorption barrier and is applied to the player's health.  Vampire creatures/weapons will only heal for the amount of damage after absorption, similar to a shield.

IDEA:
moomoose
NOTES:
This idea was inspired by the bubble shield spell, which instead of healing the target, it would protect it from a defined amount of damage in the future.

In elements, this works somewhere around heal, diss shield and bone wall in effectiveness.  Thematically, I thought it would fit easiest in :earth , but it may be more useful in another element ( :air , :time , :darkness , :aether , :gravity ?) and am open to suggestions on which element to switch to and/or how to retheme it.

Similar to poison or purify, this spell will add a counter on the users profile, keeping track of the amount of damage absorption remaining.  This spell does stack, so using a second or third spell can potentially take you over the 20|25 noted limit (ie if you cast this, 10 damage is absorbed, putting you at 10 remaining, and then you cast a second, it would take you to 30 remaining)

alternative mechanics- a permanent, a shield, a creature which generates either a set amount of absorption after attacks or based on the damage it does, or a weapon that acts likewise.  or a creature/permanent with an ability that functions similarly to this spell but repeatedly but weaker initially.

So essentially a stronger Armagio for less cost? Armagio costs 5 :gravity+1 turn+ :gravity for 25 hp absorption (which can be increased by BB at the rate of 2 :earth/1 :earth per turn). In other words,

BB = 20 HP damage absorption for 2 :earth/1 :earth+5 :gravity+ :gravity+1 turn, vulnerable to RT, non-physical damage
This = 20/25 HP damage absorption for 3 :earth, invulnerable to control.

Heal=20/20 HP restoration for 3|2 :life. This card is pretty well balanced imo.

yeah, i based the cost/effect ratio off of heal, but instead of lowering the cost 33%, i increased the effect 25%, so the cost/effect ratio is not as good as heal, accounting for the 'ahead of the fact' heal aspect.

Probably would differentiate it more from Heal if it was before, but that might make it need a buff. Still a good card idea anyways. Would be effective against Discords and Arsenics and stuff like that.

Just to be sure, if your shield has 5 hp left, and a 10atk dragon attacks, you'd lose the shield and take 5 damage right?
If you have 1hp left on your shield, and your opponent attacks with 2atk arsenic, are you poisoned?

Right. So it's basically just like a heal then. Only, this can be countered by PC and momentum.

As for balance issues, it looks quite alright to me.

hmm, both shields that eat creatures to increase the hp blocked.  i think ill move it into being a :time creature that will either cast the spell or proc the effect after successful attacks, just to give it significant distinction from any existing or proposed card.
