I kind of like the idea of making it Life cost to deploy, but maintain the burrow aspect. Life and Earth ought to have greater interaction.
To me the most attractive thing about this card is the way it uses unburrow. The least attractive thing is that it's trying to be anti-flying, and anti-land, with different methods. Lets just give it one effect.
One option is stun/entangle effect on the target.
I'd suggest we give it a poison aspect though. Poison Target creature on unburrow.
I do definitely agree that
-
could use greater synergy… There are several reasons why I kept this earth though.
First off,
seemed to fit best with the idea of a burrowing spider... but
could work out ok here as well
More importantly, giving a web like ability to earth (albeit a temporary version) will synergy well with warden and help make it a more useful card.
The main issue with warden right now is that a large number of creatures in the game have flying. So to make full use of wardens currently requires at least 3-4 quanta types (or 3 types if you use SoP, 4 otherwise).
In the end, the only way to make full use of wardens in a competitive deck is with a rainbow type deck.
Part of the motivation for this card was to give players a way to take advantage full advantage of warden outside of rainbow decks.
As an earth card, this creature will let players pull off the combo with 1-2 elements rather than 3-4… This gives viable options for pulling off competitive decks.
Finally, moving this to life would not provide the same synergy with wardens since life has no means of providing an attack bonus… A duo would still be possible using SoP, but thats much more restrictive. Otherwise a trio is still needed… This is better than a quartet, but it would still be tricky to make stable.
Long story short, I can move this to life if people strongly feel it needs to go there, but it will make a stronger impact on the game as an
card than as a
card.
