I've considered several alternatives. I've placed it in Earth because it fits both the theme of the card and it least changes the game balance. It may be a bit expensive as is. (note; that was before edits)
However, I'm also considering making the card cost neutral (maybe only the upgraded one?), and making only the ability cost  :earth.
This is my first card concept, please let me know what you think!

This has the feel of a permanent based Anubis. it's a little OP as is maybe change the cost or ability to cost a different element.

I don't see how it is op... You only need to use 2 enchant artifacts and that costs less than playing the permanent.

I think its power might be a bit on the low side as is.
If you have a lot of permanents and don't want your deck filled up with protect artifacts, this might work out.

However, consider that playing this item and then protecting itself with it costs as much as SIX protect artifacts. The only real advantage atm is that it does not also cost card slots.

How about a version where the basic costs 4 random to place, 2  :earth to activate, and the upped costs 5 random to place, 2 random to activate? I like how it gives all colours the ability to protect, and at that cost it's not that OP, I think.

Well, that's if you're only protecting a weapon and a shield. But of course adding in SoG's and other artifacts (hourglasses, towers), it might be more viable.

I think this could be problematic when combined with one of the many different rainbows. With just a single card you could protect all of your SoGs, Eternity/Pulvy, your shield and all of your towers.

This.

If this card doesn't get destroyed immediately after it's played, then the majority of rainbows have a way to protect nearly ALL of their permanents that are on the field hands down. False Gods with heavy Permanent control (Divine Glory, Hermes, etc.) would be screwed over by this card alone.

My personal suggestions on how to improve this card are changing the ability to have it affect certain permanents or to have the protection be last only a duration (1-4 turns?), or even changing the quanta cost of the ability itself.

If you want this to get into the crucible, please try to do the following:
-Place the symbol  :earth after the Card cost number. Have it match the card cost on the card exactly

You could also fix your grammar, but that's just nitpicking. :P

Haha, thanks for the feedback: I would have used correct grammar myself, but this is the exact text from the original enchant artifact card instead!  ;D (edit: not anymore)

Back to the matter at hand: as a balancing measure, how about it places 1  :earth cheaper, but its ability cost is increased by 1  :earth every time it's used?

well youve got to think, immortal creatures can still be stopped/ slowed by shields so there is a way to deal with immortal creatures, immortal permanents on the other hand have nothing that can be done about them

well yes, but it's not as if that is a new finding, since enchant artifact has been around for a while now.
