That's a good question. For now i'll say it destroys the whole shield, because the hit is supposed to be a creature or weapon.
Edit: Nevermind on explosion. It will function like bone wall

I like this card, think it fits in with earth great. Pretty sure it doesn't matter that much, but I've always thought about the wiki and the starting screen for new accounts that describe earth as having "advanced shields to protect them" while I only see one shield that really quite simple. Sorry just me ranting  love the card

combined with Wardens and Basilisk Blood, this can keep a player safe for quite some time, not quite Bonewall, but still very effective.
