Simply because the idea is that if yang appears on your field, the only way to get rid of it is to send it back.

To stay self-consistent, Yin should be immaterial too then. Either that or Yang shouldn't be immaterial.

Not really.
I meant for yin to be the only thing that could be killed.
So you have to send yang back to your opponent before you can deal with it.

Does yin and yang activate death effects like graveyard or bonewall? If so, then again, I think the unnuped cost should be at least 5
