ART: Kuroaitou (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28847) IDEA: Xenocidius NOTES: This is my idea for the Air shard. It basically makes the skills of your creatures cost other quanta and gives them the airborne passive. Note that when used with a Rustler it will only be able to use its skill once per turn (like with SoR). This perfectly fits the theme of freedom, which in turn fits the theme of Air. As with the rest of the shards, its element is given a bonus. SERIES:

As a, well, Air player to say the very least, I can frankly say I don't like this take much. I may be biased in the sense that I had submitted my own take for this shard during a competition, with the same name too, but objectively speaking I have other reasons.

Air itself isn't an element of too many skills, at least not yet, you're not getting too much out of it from the FFQ, Wyrm, or a flying Owl's Eye. And it can't even affect the Blue Nymph.

With Mitosis you're probably better off with SoR anyways, and while Freedom is indeed a central theme to Air I just can't see this card being all to useful for Air, a Shard no less.

But thank you for reminding me Xeno, I may submit may take on the Shard of Freedom some time soon.

This might seem like a weak card now, but it will improve with time as more airborne creatures with abilities are coded.

I'm at work right now, but these are the ones I can remember off the top of my head:

Elite Wyrm, Maxwell's Demon, Fire Spirit, Forest Spectre, Leaf Dragon, Elite Pegasus.  (and gargoyle; I forget if it flies in this game or not)

Also all flying weapons with abilities and any flier with a mutant ability or butterfly effect.

edit: Oh yeah, what happens if you play shard of freedom, make an ability free (say wyrm's dive) and then use web on it?  I'm assuming the ability stays free, and I'm using the antimatter/butterfly effect/antimatter situation as precedent.

the problem with the original is that there wasn't really a bonus to air, like how other shards have a bonus for their respective elements.

The new version is better, but the only air card that completely benefits is blue nymph.  As you've noted, all other air creatures are already airborne, so that first part is only benefiting non-air cards.

Gameplay-wise, the original version would be much better if it aligned to water, since they have a ton of off-element skills.

Having the skill of only making all creatures airborne seems op to me  e.g destroyer+SoF+skyblitz

SoF + skyblitz is way too OP
