This card's name can easily be misread.
Shield in weapon slot? I dunno, it makes Earth Stall easier.

Also, even though it only reduces damage by 1, this card basically has the unwritten ability "Gain double shield," which - although it should stay unwritten - is worth a great deal.  I'm wondering if cost should be raised to 4|3

Should be balanced with regard to Hope (?).  That's the most similar thing I can think of.

In the wording, attacking creatures will not accept that damage reducing because it is not "shield effect". Little confusing.
Anyone have a good wording?

You guys all have dirty minds and should feel bad. Scutum is latin for shield.

Um, Weapons should be weapons. They can help defend but they should at least qualify as a weapon.
