I attempted to follow the established cost guidelines, but they weren't as much help as I had hoped if simply because the ability doesn't exist already. Anyway, any help with adjusting ability or general costs would help. Also, the art is definitely temporary.

I like the card (moar killing for all those death triggers), but I do have a few questions:

1) Can this hurt Burrowed and Immortal creatures (aka will it drain or injure them?)
2) What is the card artwork supposed to represent in relation to the card itself? I understand it's a hand, but I don't get what that has to do with it.

Actually, the art isn't very relevant. But I didn't want to post something with no art, and so it will have to do. As for burrowed and immortal, I would say that immortal are completely unaffected, but burrowed creatures on your side of the field would still be drained. Also, since I didn't mention it, Sadistic Mage|Lich isn't drained by its effect.

Put that in the notes section of your table.  I think this is ready for a curator review... although I'm admittedly a bit reluctant on the fact Sadistic Mage | Lich doesn't drain itself with such high health.  Maybe lower it's health slightly to 6?

You made a mistake with the cost guidelines.
Activation Cost of 2 = -1 Casting Cost
Activation Cost of 3 = -1 Casting Cost

Upgraded bonus is at minimum a -1 Casting Cost

I would recommended changing X to a set value.

If it were a set value it would be more easily abused. One would have a better idea how much damage would be done on either side. With the random amount it's less predictable and more of a risk to use.

Do you have a reason why it should be changed? I feel the ability should remain in :death cost because the ability draws from this element, not another one. If it were darkness, or anything else, would it make logical sense?

Not really. When I think  :death , I think about killing cards. This seems to fit that sort of theme.

Personally, I LOVE the upgraded artwork - even if it may not make complete sense, as a background portrait/environment, the upgraded card art feels iconic to a Death creature; if you made that art via MSPaint, then major congrats - that's a pretty sweet abstract you've got going on there. ;)

That said, I think the Leech ability is (although powerful), a wonderful skill to grant to Death. It's funny how this combines with Death nicely on so many levels - extracting health from spare Skeletons to damage your opponent's creatures repeatedly, killing some of them in the process to trigger cards like Bone Wall and Soul Catcher, rinse and repeat... :)
