I was considering it, but I want to see how creature only targeting works out.  Besides, if it allowed Permanent targeting, I'd be wary of SoFo use...

yeah but the thing is it just doesn't do that much damage sofo would only do 3 damage in 4 turns

Major question is "Why Life?".  The notes denote a pseudo part, as it is relevant to the game play, not to the actual element.

Life > Envy:
Green with envy.  I really wanted to make that work.

Also, I believe is based on how creatures affect each other.  This is somewhat a twist on that, how influencing one creature, even if it isn't your own, affects another.

Eh, I don't really see myself envying damage to myself.
From a thematic standpoint I would say Envy would grant its target the ability to gain any stat boosts applied to other creatures, though there are already several cards like this.

Yeah, that and stealing effects, but, as you said, overdone...

You've spelled "Enby|Envy" in the 'Link Crucible Candidates Here!' topic. I suggest to correct it, otherwise it may cause problems with entering Crucible.
