Seems like a decent card. Although, can it be called a weapon if it does no damage? It looks more like a permanent since it does no damage. You could easily make it do 1 damage per turn.I didn't want it to damage in a physical sense. Metacaster is a magic sceptre and its power comes from allowing the user to cast spells not from striking or shooting magic or the like. The actual weapon is interdimensional. If game code dictates that as a weapon in the weapon slot that it needs a damage value then yes I guess just 1 would be appropriate. To me tho, because it isn't used in a direct fashion I hadn't given it an attack value at all. The Damage it deals is because you pulled that Fire-Lance card and jammed it at opponent or creature. If you're unlucky and don't get a direct damage spell or are able to summon a creature with it. It's just too bad. Thats the price you pay for having access to all elemental magic.
Also, and I correct everyone on this, the wording of the upgraded version seems vague. Why not just make it say "Add a Random Spell or Creature Card of an Element that matches your mark." I know you want it to search your entire deck for the different elements and count them up individually, THEN choose the highest element, but that seems like a lot (especially to code!).It does not ever search your deck for a card at alll, the card is created from nothing. In the basic version you could get Firebolt when playing a Time|Life deck the card will be useless to you. You could get firebolt in your mono-fire deck. Any spell or creature is possible. The Basic version favours playing multiple elemental types just so you hvva more chance to be able to use the spell/creature you get.
Since the card would be generated during your weapon's actionit looks like it has an activation cost of seven, so the card would be generated before the end of turn and you would have to discard if you have eight in hand.
Very nice and good to see you back.I've always been here.
As to it's mechanic:The intent was anything includeing rares and upgrades. If the database is Bi-linear and upgrades are include in the same record entry as the basic version then the found card will be Basic from Pseudocaster and Upgraded from Metacaster.
I like the idea it searches the library not the deck. You can get anything I assume that is available. just one question does this include rares and upgrades?
I am wondering if it fits with Entropy more than Random Quanta due to its mechanic but I like the idea of an Other weapon and think you have the right track to take it down.Metacaster was the first weapon and Pseudocaster the basic version of that. Metacaster is very ordered in that it brings you a tool you can use. Pseudocaster on the other hand doesn't know what you can use. I debated making Psuedocaster an Entropy card with an Entropy activator but it seemed wrong that it would upgrade into Metacaster an Unaligned Weapon.
Nice work and I like the font..Thanks for the Praise.

I really, really like this card. It has an awesome concept. I think the damage should be kept at 0, it fits with the idea of the card. I don't know if I understood it right, but does the upgraded version add a card based on the element you have the most quanta? Thanks for the Praise
Ah, gotcha. I thought it was a triggered ability, not an activated ability. That makes more sense. Quantum Towers ftw, then! :)Yep Activated just like Hasten if it cannot add to hand it will give you the prompt saying the hand is full or you are drawing a card.
Very nice card. I like. Thanks for the Praise.
A weapon doesn't have to deal damage. This card could very well be a permanent, but being a weapon limits it to one per game unless you use Animate Weapon. That balances the card a bit.
What if I fly 6 of them? I would be able to get 6 cards per turn?Yes you could get 6 cards a turn, but you are burning 42 quanta to fuel that card draw and you have to be running Aniimates to get the Pseudocaster | Metacaster into flight. In my testing, the 7 activator put it into the mid lategame range in a supporting role so you'd need to have something else to get you through the early game. I found 2-3 Metacaster was the best you could hope for that was actually effective. Flying any more was pointless because they couldn't be fueled and they deal no damage.
Whats wrong with your name? mine has two "ass"es in it and idk if anyone caresMy name is associated with previous perceptions people have about me.
Me gusta, though personally I would define "favored element" by the highest quanta pool at the time of the Metacaster's activation (after the 7 random quanta have been removed, of course.)Thats already what it is, with the exception that if there is no max quanta pile it chooses by mark. I actually left it open on the before or after activation pay because I'm not sure on Zanz trigger system at the point of calculation. Either option works tho.
And sure, Kael, I'll be happy to add this to my 'wands' collection seeing as I don't have an 'Other' wand yet. :)
(off topic)I feel that there could be Unaligned Elementals in the world of elements, bastard children if you will. I fully support the addition of a Quantum mark if one was offered even tho in a technical sense it is weaker than a defined mark.
This card gets me thinking that a quantum mark would be a viable suggestion for the game. Ive been told its not because of the fact that you are an elemental summoning monsters, however unaligned elemental, that got me thinking that it wouldnt be stretching the little story this game has at all.

I like the idea, but heres my question about it. Does the amount of quanta you have for the element you get the card from, effect the cost of the card you draw in any way? for example, If it drew from :light and I only had 1 :light , would I have just as good a chance as getting a Dragon, as a photon? Thanks for the apreciation. The prefered quanta selection only matters for the element type of the card, nothing more. If you only had 1 light quanta left after activation, you would recieve an equal chance of any light Spell or Creature, including miracle.
And also, what about rares, such as weapons, miracles, pharaohs, squids, and nymphs, do they have an equal chance as well?Any card in the database is valid, including Nymphs and Rares. All are equal chance as anything else that fits the criteria. Weapons cannot be found as they are not Spells or Creatures.
What about Holy Cows? :PIf they are still in the Database as an active card then yes.
if the weapon doesnt do damage by itself, maybe you should lower the ability cost to 1 or 2 quanta. dont forget, that it still takes the appropriate amount of quanta, to play the spell or creature card.If its too cheap it gets out of control in rainbow decks where you can generate quanta across multiple elements and it will be generating cards across the board. 1 or 2 Quanta is negligible in that type of deck. 7 hurts more and reduces the chance to get an easy fat creature. But Lategame with a substantial quanta base it works fine.
is there any specific reason, why the weapon is immaterial? (still voted for it, though. i like the idea.)Just in Theme. It belongs to my Unaligned elemental character. He uses it to draw on whatever summons or spell is required within the enviroment of quanta he draws. It is not used to attack the opponent directly in any way so has no damage value. It is also indestructible and untheiveable being bound only to him and is not in the real physical dimension so Immaterial seemed appropriate. The Character uses multiple animate weapons, but Metacaster is his primary choice.
