The basic card gives you quanta based on your mark's element.  The upgraded still gives you quanta for one of your pillars/pendulums for each creature which attacks you, so if a creature attacks you and you have water/life/earth/time pillars (random selection of elements for this example), it would pick one of those elements to produce quanta for. Not sure, but I think I've seen another card with this name before.
Amusing card. Sort of like solar shield but more versatile. Should have definite potential
Will the effect stack if you have more than one?

Also, what if the upped version instead defaulted to your mark, but allowed you to target a quanta type, enabling you to control which type you get back. The randomness seems like it may be a little unreliable as is.

It's not that unreliable if you only have 2 or 3 different types.
Do QUantum Pillars produce 1 or 3?

this is a redo of one of my previous ideas, that would probably explain why you saw something like it before.

for the upped, you do control which quanta is produced- because you control what pillars/pends you put into play.

quantum pillars produce 3, as per usual.

the effect does not stack, seems like it would be too potent if it did.
