This card's theme is "playing with the dead", which can harm yourself by clogging your own hand if played against specific decks (death or rainbow) or to lose a whole batch of

quanta per turn. This way, its unusual mechanism makes it interesting (in my opinion) to combine it with certain cards. The upkeep cannot be modified, it's the most important condition for this card, becoming otherwise almost invincible.
Imagine you are using this card against someone who happens to HAVE
to play it. The more of this card your opponent plays, the larger the upkeep cost would be. Eventually, it depletes all the
in your opponent. This makes your opponent decides whether or not to let this card clog his hand or drain his quanta.
One of the most versatile cards I have ever seen. The chance of backfiring yourself makes both players need to think about the consequences before deciding what to do with this card.
In fact, there are many combinations together with this card, such as nightmaring sparks and having this card in play to prevent the opponent from drawing cards. It can lead to really hilarious decks in some cases, just for the fun of playing with it, and probably other hand-pinning-down decks (stalls, probably?). If the opponent has any

quanta, a deep stalled game takes place almost instantly, as any death effect (regardless of the player) will trigger this card's effects, clogging up both hands and causing a really bad time for both players. Thanks for all the kind comments and good ideas, I'll be working on this eagerly!
