like the idea of multiple upgrade options! Could lead to all sorts of trouble great ideas! 

Well, it's not impossible or insanely hard to implement. Just make it so that when you press "Upgrade", it does a brief 50/50 calculation (like flipping a coin), and then gives you either Swordsmaster Higs or Assasain Higs depending on the result, heads or tails/1 or 2.

I know, it leads to some great options! (although also the need to get more  to get all upgrades....maybe you should be able to choose upgrade?)
I do like it, and do think optional/alternate upgrades could open up a whole new world in Elements, the potential is so big I'm not even sure how to start working it into new ideas!

Highly unlikely - the idea that these cards would randomly upgrade into one or the other just seems like a spelling for disaster, as you'd have to deal with the consequences of people trying to get one certain type of upgrade (not to mention, it could make one upped version less desired than the other). The concept of having different upgrade options in itself shouldn't be a card mechanic, and if it was, then the whole system of upgrading would literally need to be redone in order for this card idea to succeed as a whole.

Otherwise, the idea of it attacking three times on occasion is a much more reasonable and logical choice compared to the invisibility trick.

Both of these classes can be acquired by leveling up the Myrmidon in FE: Sacred Stones, and I'm interested in seeing how this plays out in elements.

Based on what you said, name will be changed and people will be given an upgrade choice.

I have no clue to be honest. But I don't think people in general would want to deal with a card with multiple upgrade options, unless it applied to other cards (otherwise, it just feels like two separate ideas, and creates bias in one or the other, even with a given choice of either upgrade, which then defeats the purpose of the choice to begin with, etc.).

I see what you're saying here, but the current system (unless Zanz changes a key code somewhere) only allows for 1:1 card upgrade ratio choices, rather than having one card upgrade to a plethora of cards (i.e. - a spell with 7 different upgrading variants that the player can choose from). I really don't know how this would play out in Elements, but I'm biting my thumb here; the potential chaos of 'different upgrade versions = different uses' just makes it less appealing compared to direct upgrades from separate card concepts.

(Swordmaster upgrade is even called Kensei in Japanese. Means Sword Saint. In English, the class was Trueblade.)

Fun bit of triva to know whenever you play Fire Emblem.  Strangley enough I wasn't thinking about that part until I looked up how to spell myrmidon.
