I feel like the shield having a certain ammount of charges would be a better solution.

The way it's now it would just completely obliterate alot of decks. How about 10 charges?

With a cost of 7:

At 100% to copy, it'd be 7-9 :life.
At 50% to copy, it'd be 3-4 :life.
At 15% to copy, it'd be at around 1 :life

Therefore, it cannot be balanced at 100%.

I feel like the shield having a certain ammount of charges would be a better solution.

The way it's now it would just completely obliterate alot of decks. How about 10 charges?
The cost-per-copy and supposed auto-destruction already gives a limit, but this can help balancing as a fail-safe/limit.

Should I up the Absorb to 2 or 3 :life ?

Should we limit the # of copies produced? if yes a counter would be placed on shield indicating how many copies remaining to be produced. and if the is not any  :life to absorb the shield is distroyed.

any thoughts on this^?

Yes, I think you should increase the absorb to 3-5, the shield not being destroyed after the counters are gone or when you do not have quanta would work well. Also, make sure you reduce the number of copies to balance it with 6 shields in a deck.

Have you thought about making the upped 2 red, 8 cost?

Yeah, for the short-run. It definitely needs a limit berf so that we don't need to overbalance it for the long-run.

Have you decided between limiting total copies, limiting copies-per-turn, and limiting creature types (damage, vanilla, etc.)?

As it stands, this is the kind of shield that I would just drop in a mono-aether and chain.

The :life drain is so much that trying to keep it is not worth it, it would be simpler to just drop this shield out to copy everything for one turn and then play another one as soon as you get it.

Start with N/Casting Cost % chance of copying an attacking creature.
The Absorb cost per Copy created should be kept (with possible scaling) but would fit better as  :aether.
