Is it blocked by shields? Does it dissipate cloak? Is it reflected?
Well it's an effect so shields won't block it. I suppose it will remove cloak since it has no target and I don't think it should be reflected sicne I would count it as physical damage since it's a weapon.

AH thank you, I'm happy you like it. I don't know but maybe I have to rename this card. It's actually not lava, it's like on the picture, someone who beams out lava.

I totally forgot about it's flown stats. That opens a even wider strategical use for it since you can use more than 1 of it at the same time. I think that 3-5 hp would be okay and that it's attack would be 0 but that it's ability ( which could be named pulsating lava ) still activated at end of every turn just like psion.
... So someone beaming out lightning is a thing... should lightning be a weapon card then...? I'm sorry, but pulsating lava is still not an actual weapon, it is just a means of attack.
Yeah I agree thats why the name is a bit wrong. The ability could be named pulsating lava while the card something else. And I do believe that a card which sends out lighting every turn could be counted as a weapon, I mean Owl's eye sends out arrows every turn and that counts.

Just because it is a mass effect doesn't mean it has to remove cloak. For instance, unupgraded thunderstorm does not remove cloak. This is more of a balancing decision on your part and there are pros and cons... I'm still not sure why plague removes cloak thematically... but it helps make it valuable as a counter in mono-death decks.

As for shield bypass, that has some warrant if you are saying this is the weapons active skill.

Yeah I agree thats why the name is a bit wrong. The ability could be named pulsating lava while the card something else. And I do believe that a card which sends out lighting every turn could be counted as a weapon, I mean Owl's eye sends out arrows every turn and that counts.
Maybe call it "Magma Caller's Staff" or something like that?
As a closing point on this, note that the player is an elemental and not necessarily a humanoid, so there is some basis for allowing "non-traditional" weapons. But that would take some clever work to make it believable for players.

Also, why are weapons restricted to physical damage?
There was no other "type" of damage when they were first added.
Spell damage has only been in place for the last couple of patches.
So I suppose there really is no reason thematically, but it does make them a little easier to balance when there are shields that can counter them.

I think unupped Thunderstorm actually does remove Cloak, but it just doesn't say so on the card (unlike the upped version, which states it explicitly).

Hmmm... I'll have to test this. Will mod this post when done.
It seems you are right. I can confirm this in the current trainer.
You try wearing a cloak while bleeding pus and vomiting.
Interestingly enough, neither thunderstorm nor lightening storm disrupted my own cloak.

So according to current mechanics, you can certainly argue that the ability should disrupt cloaks.

Balance wise, I'm a little torn on whether or not that is a good idea. This card becomes an exceptionally hard counter vs. cloak since it will dispell it every turn without fail.
Cloak would then become a 1 turn protection for your opponent while yours would still provide 4 turns... that seems a little too powerful I think.

Thunderstorm doesn't affect your side of the field. Did you try unupped Pandemonium?

Well a weapon needs to be held by someone. I could just call it magma staff or something and have the name pulsating lava as an ability when flown.

I agree. That would be a quite powerful card vs cloak which is unnecessary. I change it to the following: The damage is still dealt just that you can't see what you damage.

Spoiler for Wording Comparison:

Why is it not blocked by shields if it is physical damage?
Good point. I was to tiered when I was answering that. And sure the 1 damage it will deal to a player will be blocked if you have a shield which does that.

Nice card, that would be wonderful with firestall or fly weapon, I think well balanced but it should cause at least 3 damage, otherwise it seems more a normal permanent (non-weapon card)

You got a point there when saying it looks more like a permanent but I also want it to be a bit different from other weapons. Either way I really like that art.
I'm also happy you like it  ;)

Wops sorry my bad. I changed the name to Lava staff since that sounds more like a weapon, however I forgot to change the title name. Fixed, thank you for noticing.
