NOTES:
It's a bit obvious, but it would probably be wise to note that a discard effect caused by a death effect through Janus does not cause another death effect through Janus, much like how reflected spells cannot be reflected to prevent an infinite loop.

Although there is only one in-game creature with a discard effect at the moment, this card is balanced to and meant to be used with the cards in the series "Discard This Card."
SERIES:
Discard This Card (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,33394)

The effect is good in your serie.
But why time for Janus? Looks to me pretty chaotic by concept, or death related by effect.

Quote from: Wikipedia
In ancient Roman religion and mythology, Janus is the god of beginnings and transitions, thence also of gates, doors, doorways, endings and time. He is usually a two-faced god since he looks to the future and the past.
I thought the theme of Janus best represented this mechanic, since it creates beginnings/transitions from endings, or shows two faces (death and discard) from one thing.
Also, something triggered by discard doesn't seem very Death-like to me, although I guess you could argue that something triggered by death doesn't seem very Time-like to you.

According to Ovide, Janus said about himself: "Elders used to call me Chaos." (French Wikipaedia)
Also, I know the source is not the best one :p, but I remember a guy in the TV Show Buffy The Vampire Slayer who was worshiping Janus as being the God of Chaos.

That's why I was having this feeling. But it's your call in the end, of course. :)

Mhmm, the Roman Janus is sometimes identified with the Greek concept of Chaos, the state of the world before time began and everything became ordered into day, night, etc.

However, the mechanic isn't at all chaotic or random, it's more of an orderly "if this, then this" type of thing.

This God has definitely a lot of flavor. Good choice! :)
I like your serie.

If you are not making him as a creature, maybe you can associate his name with the permanent, instead of making him the permanent. Like "Janus' Influence" or whatever.

Hm, thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind. However, I'd rather not such a game-changing card be a permanent because of all those nasty types of permanent control around. :P

Wait, correct me if I'm wrong.

It's basic function is that all creatures discarded or dies will trigger a death effect?

If a creature dies (without Janus in play), then its death effect is triggered. For example, if a Soul Catcher is in play and a creature dies, then Soul Catcher will generate 2-3 quanta. Janus will make it so that if a creature is discarded from the hand, a death effect is generated, which means that Janus can be used with Soul Catcher and Hourglass/Fractal to fill up your hand and discard creature cards.

However, note that if a creature on the field dies while Janus is on the field, only the original death effect will be generated (Janus will not trigger an additional death effect).

This seems very Flooding-esque to me- ie it completely shuts down a few types of decks but otherwise is not really useful.

...Shuts down? How so?

It's main use, of course, is as support with the cards in the series. You build 30-card decks, not 6 collections of 5-card counters.
