I like the idea, but I do not feel that this weapon befits light. Light is not about changing the game's elements, and certainly not about randomness. The ability is interesting, but I don't think that it befits aether, being that aether already has the ability lobotomize.

Entropy or darkness seem to be the best thematic fit to me.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

It kind of makes sense in light due to the fact that it's named doctor/surgeon scalpel, and light (and doctors) are all about healing, and the aether part does fit with mental skills (or lack thereof; see lobotomy), but the random part definitely fits well with entropy also, though I think leaving it with light and aether is fine.

I'm not sure how I feel about a scalpel hitting somebody for 6 damage, considering its size, but if the damage were lowered, the cost would have to be lowered as well.  The card does look like a lot of fun, and can be used in a lot of different ways, just off the top of my head.  Play it in aether/light, fractal some RoLs and give them funky abilities, play it in a mutant-themed deck and go nuts, or even use it defensively sort of like a lobotomizer and use it on your opponent's creatures, though this could backfire in your face, much like mutating your opponent's creatures.  It also allows for the supreme awesomeness of flying your own scalpel and using it on itself :p
