the card looks pretty good, the first problem i can see is that creatures can activate their bilities without targets. this has been used to explout sofos and other cards. im not sure if it would make this card not work.

No, because the ability will only work if it does not gain the stats from Devouring.  Essentially, it's either +1|+1 or -1|-1.

Sounds very similar to the appetite stimulant idea.

Yeah, but unless I remembering stimulant incorrectly, there is no downside for not Devouring.

Armedilgo approves of this card.
Because 9 :gravity Devour is so nice looking.

Will the devour ability that is granted be of the same type as the creature to use? If not, what type of quanta will be needed?

I love the card but in actual fact if you played against this card i'd hate it.
I guess, its roughly balanced though. It's a do or die (well -1|-1) situation.

Well, the idea was to put it in :gravity , which I have so conveniently forgotten to add to the notes...

With SoR, it wouldn't make much of a difference if you switched the ability cost from variable to constant. Plus, if it were constant, you could add the cost into the card text.

gluton armagio > armored Oty.

gluton armagio > armored Oty.

I'd have two armor'd Otyughs over a glutton'd armagio and a couple of extra pillars any day.

Ugh, Shards.  Well, then the cost resets each turn.  So with SoR, you get a 5 cost Devour for one turn.  Then it returns to the cost that is given to it by the Max HP.  I guess by making the cost dynamic, it makes it hard to just buff a Glutton.

Shard of Readiness is not a problem because it is a one-time use spell and it costs 5-6 quanta. What's the difference between a Glutton'd Golden Dragon and a Glutton'd Titan? A Titan can eat a Golden Dragon, Massive Dragon, Steam Machine, and Voodoo Doll. Is that +4 targeting potential really worth the triple'd ability cost? Because of Devour's mechanics, I believe that the ability cost can be sufficiently balanced even if it is not variable.

Further note: The problem I had was that the card mechanic spilled over into the Notes when this was not necessary.

hmm. yeah even with a high gravity cost, you could combine this with sofo to make something nasty.... sofo + gravity pull + overdrive + gluttony deck is just super trolly lol.

Gluttony is an active, so no Overdrive, and Gravy Pull is unreliable here...

I didn't mean all on the same card, but just overdrive gravity sofo combinations are already quite annoying :P this just adds another option :P

True.  Changes it from cheap PC to expensive CC.
