What HP do you feel fits the entire flock best? I think you may be right that 4 HP does not thematically fit as well as maybe 3 or 2.

hmmm, never quite sure about costing etc, best have OldTrees take a look at.....oh wait!  :P

I think in general I like the Ambush idea. However, it's quite tricky to see one card by itself since if only one of these cards made it it'd be quite weak, but all together and you get so many new takes on decks and they all become stronger, espec with more and more options of other ambush creatures!
So in that sense quite tricky to judge as a single card :s

And I ran, I ran so far away. I just ran, I ran all night and day. I couldn't get away.

The extra HP may make the card worth playing as a standalone, because it takes 3 birds to have creatures that surpass playing multiple Abominations. It looks balanced.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.

This series is intended to be judged individually as if only one of these would be implemented. Think of it as refining an voting on which version of Ambush is the best candidate. Each card would have a different taste and scope if it entered the game. One of the goals if this series is for me to investigate the community.

This. None of the ambush guys seem very strong at all. Paying 4 for a 4/4 vanilla that only gets slightly better with the next seems very underwhelming.

Its a cool mechanic but from what I've seen the guys its attached to are unplayably (is that a word?) bad.

Nice card, nice idea for the ambush mechanic, very subtle and well thought. I think it could make a great addiction to the game if it ever was to be implemented.

The HPs look balanced.

Nothing more to say, gratz to OT and the CCC.

I trust your intuition.
At what casting cost would you play this and the other cards?

In that case, I think it's UP. Both cost one less perhaps. the way I see it (very roughly!): 3 (for attack) +0 for HP + 0.5 airborne + 0.5 ambush = 4 (or even 0.6 for airborne and 0.4 for ambush...). similar for upped version. However that is if this was the only creature in the game with ambush. Obviously the more creatures with ambush, the more valuable the ability becomes, and so the price goes up....

If you're looking for the best ambush creature, then I think a low ish attack cheap one which you can fractal, play loads quickly etc to make any real use of ambush. Or something like Decoy, where you can give all your creatures ambush.

I think its because I'm a control player and not an aggro player honestly. If someone wants to pay 4 for a vanilla 4|4 I usually don't care at all.

Ambush as an ability scales weirdly in that its best on small low cost beaters, gets worse on midrange guys, and is theoretically easily controlled by the time its late game enough to worry about big guys. On the other hand fractal + smaller ambush guys seems like it can be retarded fast, and as a control player ambush on a weapon seems like it could be crazy. Its really hard to say where the balance should be.
