I don't see the ability as "mega powered". Fallen Elf has a similar ability (Mutation) which costs 1 . Also Fallen elf costs only 4 to play.
- Elf only has 2hp so is easy to deal with
- Only has 10% chance to Kill
- Abomination has 5 attack which can clear shields whereas skeleton only has 1 and vamp has 2 which can be handled by most shields making them insignificant.
- Mutation can cause you to end up fighting a 10+ atk creature with Immaterial or Devour or Steal or Something else incredibly nasty.
Well, I think the major difference here is that Mutation can be used effectively in both attack and defense. Also you can use it multiple times until you get what you want.
When comparing these abilities, keep in mind that Gaze of Death costs
, and Mutation
. Also creature costing 9
or 4
is a big difference. That's why Faceless One has more HP.
There are many things that make Faceless One not that powerful:
- You need both Darkness and Death quanta
- Faceless One is expensive to play
- Ability is expensive to use
- Ability doesn't kill the creatures, and there's a 50% chance of getting a Minor Vampire which is not that bad really
I don't see how anyone could see this card as "mega powered". Any speed deck with low cost creatures would absolutely destroy a deck that used Faceless Ones.
