animate weapon targets the weapon slot not the weapon, that is how we can fly a protected weapon. This should work in a similar manner.
Animate Weapon is a positive only effect. Eidolon would be used both positively and negatively. If it is permitted to effect an immaterial shield then it should do so by targeting the player not the shield slot.
I guess that is how he has it worded.
Yeah, I had it intentionally target the player for that reason similar to Animate Weapon.
A protected shield should protect the shield slot.
The shield Buff series (still a few weeks away) was intended to buff any or no shield (not necessarily by targeting)
Well, a protected shield is not invincible. What happens if I slice at the arm holding the shield rather than the shield itself? You could potentially drop it, protected or not, so I think it makes sense thematically to bypass protected shields.
