Why would you want to give your opponent a random shield? I could see that  an upped Dissipation Shield could drain their quanta, but the chances of giving them that shield is rare.

Well, if it won't replace protected shields, i don't see much point in it affecting the opponent's shield at all. you could mostly make it worse. On the other hand, it would completely ruin the RoL/Hope strategy - but then again, sometimes those situations can't be avoided (thinking of PC here; fractal too)
So i'm fine with it replacing protected shields

On the other hand, it would completely ruin the RoL/Hope strategy - but then again, sometimes those situations can't be avoided (thinking of PC here; fractal too)

Well, could be this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eidolon_(apparition) , or it could be a summon from Final Fantasy. In Fall from Heaven (a mod for Civilization 4) Eidolons are demonic knights that will help anyone as long as they are evil.  I liked the name "Eidolon" for a demonic knight, so I used it here when I found the art.

Keep in mind that Eidolon's effect can potentially backfire - you might give your opponent a Jade Shield or a Permafrost Shield if you're not careful unlike crusaders whose abilty is guaranteed to have PC/CC/Increased damage. I think it should be able to target immaterial shields.

Make it target the shield slot not the shield. Doing that gets you around protected shields. Reminder: When the CCC does the Shield Buff Series we will be targeting the slot not the shield.

A protected shield should protect the shield slot.
The shield Buff series (still a few weeks away) was intended to buff any or no shield (not necessarily by targeting)

animate weapon targets the weapon slot not the weapon, that is how we can fly a protected weapon. This should work in a similar manner.

Animate Weapon is a positive only effect. Eidolon would be used both positively and negatively. If it is permitted to effect an immaterial shield then it should do so by targeting the player not the shield slot.
