I have an idea for it. I know it'll be complicated, but what if it gained only +1|+1 when you used develop, but created a "Technology" card of some kind.

Edit: Have the technology cards be some kind of amplifier. This caveman can create any sort of random technology cards, that have the power Equip: Sacrifice <Insert Name> Technology to <Insert Effect> target creature...

For example: Efficient Technology: Sacrifice Efficient Technology to reduce cost of target creature's active ability by 1

You could make a "Counter". Cave man has 5/4 counters  - Once the final counter is gone (the counters go down by develop), he turns into "Civilian" or "Villager" or "City Man". His HP would then be increased. However, you could then make him only gain +2/+0 in develop.

If the Caveman has 3 counters at the end of your turn, it turns into one of the creatures of the next stage, the average middleage-dude with higher stats and different abilities. There could be archers, knights, kings, peasants etc. Far better than yet another growing creature :P

hmm i dont know if i want to start a series but i might create something like the technology card that somehow affects growth, ablaze, and develop
