When I get around to it, I'll change it to 6/7 health, I think.  Would that be a good amount?

if it copies the card, does that include the element too (what im trying to get at, does nightfall/eclipse still affect it when it's ability is used with a non darkness or non death monster?)

Nightfall/Eclipse would be added after the copy, so if you copy a Horned Toad you would end up with 5|4, if the buff is exploded, it would drop to 3|3.  Doppelganger retains its card element and picture, the only things it copies are the attack and health.

if it takes damage when it shifts, when it reverts, will it have damage taken from it. ie: takes over horned toad 3/3 goes to 3/1, when it reverts does it go back to 2/12 or will it be 2/10. and if thats the case when it turns into something else and dies like that, is it dead for good or does it turn back with less health (2/9 for example)

When it reverts, it's like the card was REWOUND.  So any damage is removed, poison counters, antimatter, etc.

why would poisons go away, its not like it takes the body of another creature, just its appearnce, its still the same being

I guess it could be that just the attack and health get reverted, though poison is the only reason I can see that mattering.  Anyway, it would be possible to re-copy and revert again every time you approach poison-death.

I think it is too powerful. With the shifting back and forth it can basically heal itself. That is a creature with 14 health that can heal itself.

Maybe either drop the unshifted doppleganger's attack to 0 or drop the hp to something reasonable, say 6-8.

I didn't say 6|7, which is 6 attack.  I said 6/7, meaning the regular health is 6, or 7 if upgraded.

It may have 14 health right now, but it has only 2 attack, costs 4/3 quanta (which is a much worse damage/quantum ratio than most creatures), and there are lots of non-damage forms of CC out there.  Also it takes up a slot in your deck.  If your opponent plays no creatures worth copying, this creature finds itself underpowered - this means if your opponent's fractaling scarabs, ball lightnings, or brimstone eaters, or using quinted critters, or running creatureless...

That's why the health was so high.  If it's going to be so situational, it has to have redeeming factors as a standalone.  But 6-7 health wouldn't be too much of a drop... upped, that's still three firestorms.
