Hmm, this is intended as a death mark rainbow foundation?
A really good one,  i never seen death mark rainbows :)

- 30% chance per element to produce 1 of that element.

May produce :death :earth :fire :gravity :time :life :aether

Firstly, why those elements? Any reasoning?

This 30% chance. It is applied for each of the 7 elements this tower could produce? So, in theory this tower only produces 1/3rd of :death :earth :fire :gravity :time :life :aether ?

That is to say, for each of the 7 elements this 'may' produce, there is a 70% chance that it does nothing at all?

Doesn't sound so appealing to me.

I understood as: each of the 7 has a separate chance.
(30% PER element).

When interview, I asked the elements would you more likely or not come from a decomposing corpse, these guys said yes. I don't mind removing some or adding some within reason, and just adjusting the %chance to keep the ratio the same.

This 30% chance. It is applied for each of the 7 elements this tower could produce? So, in theory this tower only produces 1/3rd of :death :earth :fire :gravity :time :life :aether ?

Its 30% per element in the list to be produced, so the chance of producing nothing is 0.7^7 = 0.082 or 8.2% whereas the chance to produce something is 91.8% with an average of 2.1 produced from the list of 7.

PS. 30% is 3/10 whereas 33% is 1/3

Updated with card image. Updated mechanics page to match.

Any complaints about quanta selection or anything else?

Well I'm not a big fan of this card to be honest because you picked 7 elements which is a pretty weird number.

If Elements were to have these kinds of cards, I think it would be like this:

Option 1.
2 different cardseach card produces 6 different quanta
Option 2.
3 different cardseach card produces 4 different quanta
Option 3.
4 different cardseach card produces 3 different quanta
12 is the magic number in Elements so I think these quanta generating cards should use that number. Your 7 doesn't fit.

Also we already know the Elemental opposites so they should be used somehow when grouping elements like this. I agree with Lanidrak in that your grouping is a bit random.

I think the problem you see is that all the quanta producers should be an even divisor of 12. When making blocks that create stirations its often better to use prime numbers that aren't divisors of the whole group. This prime factorization gives a greater variablity across the environment from the smallest amount of tools. If I wanted to make a cards to cover all of the elements then I would use the divisor like i did with the Dawn and Dusk totem. This card isn't to work in a group like that tho.

Other than being 7 elements on the card (the other option being 5 but 7 is better with the chance production range and the mechanical ability to generate quanta via creature death) are there any elements that aren't on this card that would be more in theme coming from a corpse than the elements that are already on this card?

Wow, that was a lot of fancy words basically saying nothing. :) Bottom line is that if you group elements into groups of 7, it will be "unbalanced" because some elements will be represented more than others. It's pure math, nothing else.

Ok, we have :death :earth :fire :gravity :time :life :aether . Great.

But what if I wanted  :air :entropy :death :time :gravity :life :water ?

What about  :air :darkness :death :earth :entropy :fire :aether ?

Are we going to have all possible combinations, or just pick them by random?

These are all basically random combinations of 7 elements which are not based on any grouping in the game itself, they are only based on the theme of the card. This means I could take any word like "apple pie" and just pick 7 elements that I think best represent apple pie.

There's no real "system" behind the whole thing.

This will be the only combination for this card using this mechanic. Don't think of a fairness between elements because the mechanics attached to the cards inherently unbalance and production group.

As for the choice of using that element or not, I didn't choose :air or :water for the Carnal House because I don't feel that that energy exists in a positive sense in that locale. Whereas Decomposition :death, Ashes :earth, Consumption :fire, Confinement :gravity, Memory :time, Recycling :life, Spiritism :aether are element links to the Carnal Pit or Sepulchre.

Also have a read of this from my Series Topic.

Section 3 - Artifact Quanta Combinations
These cards are Artifacts unique to the Element in which they are presented and give the user a source of alternate quanta for combining in other element cards or triggering activators on in element cards. These cards will be driven by theme over the need for a particular quanta.

I love the art btw. I feel like there is plethora of card ideas but a dearth of good art.

Why not make it produce quanta based on the mark of the creatures that have died?
