Hmm good point...do you think making it cost :fire :fire :fire might be more balanced? Right now Im trying to compare it to mitosis...(btw does mitosis on flying weapons actually work?)

no it used to, though, but was nerfed while still in beta because of how much it was abused.  personally i dont like the idea of repeatedly summoning creatures with that atk value at any cost, my recommendation of having it be a one time use ability stands.

I don't think it should have the fly ability cast. It is too powerful as it creatures high damage high hp creatures at very little cost and it has the hp to survive most forms of single use CC.

I do however like the idea of creating weapons. Perhaps you could have it work like this:

Unupped: Generate random weapon or shield.
Upped: Generate random weapon or shield of your mark. (OR: generate random upgraded weapon or shield)

This should make it more balanced. I means it could be used to counter permanent control by generating each turn, but made reasonable by the fact you get a random item and so cannot guarantee you get the one you want.

Also the quanta cost for playing the card is virtually never increased in the upped card unless the creature has a higher attack (which is doesnt here).

With the idea of forge - perhaps a dwarf would be a better fit. They are definitely earth creatures, tend to have high hp and low damage in most games and have a affinity for forging items. Dwarf | Battle Dwarf

He would have a hard time holding you to that since he already released it publicly for non-commercial use.

Anyway - this picture doesn't match the quality of elements images & needs a background. So its probably a good thing that the image be changed or altered.

On another note - the description shouldnt have any capitals except the skill itself when colon is used ie

If you compare it to mitosis on a giant frog or the death spider (sorry the actual card names are escaping me right now), you're pretty close.

Yes consider the FFQ upped still only produces creatures with 3 attack. While upped cyclops produces flying weapons with attack of 4-7. Also I would point out that fireflies only have 2 HP, while these weapon can have upto 6 -see below:
