I want to keep the drain-all-quanta thing, because I want this to be in a series of powerful spells, alongside Miracle and Fractal.

How about drain all :darkness, and 3 damage per turn? It'd still take 3 turns to corrupt a FFQ.
Just because it is powerful does not mean it has to follow the same path as others.  Fractal at first did not have the drain.  It was later added to help balance the card.  That drain is not needed with your card.

How about dropping the poison idea and introducing a new mechanic.  Corrupted creature takes double damage and deals half damage...  It combos well with other elements (Aether/Water/Fire/Air) and still able to work in a mono environment (Soul Siphon).

EDIT:  Fitting text in shouldn't be a huge concern.  You can always shrink the text size.

I like this idea, although taking over the creatures ability seems a) too powerful and b) would introduce some incosistencies. Examples: Corrupted Phoenix, is killed, turns into Ash. Does Ash use now  :fire or  :darkness? Same with Pharao, Air Nymph? What about Passive abilities (Gemfinders, Brimstone Eaters,...)? So this has to be clarified.

Next, the quantum costs: How about changing it to 4+X :darkness (+depletes all  :darkness), where X is the summoning cost of the target creature? This way, it adapts itself to the creature power.

I like Nevermores idea about variable cost to play this card.

Another idea would be to let the "corrupted" card consume  :darkness  like Flooding / Inundation does.

The consumed quanta could depend on the cost of the "corrupted" creature.

I'd avoid making this too complicated.

First, I don't think it's possible for a card to have a non-static cost. Second, I've thought about corrupted creatures draining quanta, but that's a bit too complicated also.

@Nevermore: It's simpler than you think. Only the active ability cost is changed to Darkness. A corrupted FFQ still produces normal Fireflies that generate :light. Passive abilities are not affected at all. As for Phoenix, I'm not sure... Does the corrupted status carry over to the next generation? Does all statuses carry over?
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

All right, I've decided to remove the drain-all-quanta thing. Corruption now deals 3 poison-like damage to the target creature; when it dies, it joins your side. The cost stays the same.

Heh.. and you said my Forget / Amnesia was OP. Don't point out a twig in someone's eye if you got a log in yours. very good concept but way way OP. first of all it only cost 5, instant death AND goes to your side AND converts ability cost?????? doesn't seem right and very unbalanced. look Mr.Bloodshadow all i can say is that if this card is released as you posted it.... DARKNESS>EVERY OTHER ELEMENT. Period.

Did you even see the "all :darkness is drained" part?

And the new version doesn't kill instantly. Similar to Aflatoxin, it deals 3 poison damage. When the creature dies it joins your side.

And I don't get what your ranting is about. I can't say your idea is OP if I have an OP idea myself?

So it still drains all?

Okay, then. It's better balanced now, I guess. On to the Smithy! Or is it the Forge? Or the Crucible? What?

Point taken, but calm down. :P
Also, a log in my eye would be pretty awesome to have.

Um.. so you took out everything that made the card cool? Bad move imo.

Why not just increase the cost? If it cost as much as Miracle and drained all your :darkness, it might be pretty close to balanced actually.

If your opponent has high cost creatures that you can target -> the card is great
If your opponent has a bunch of low cost creatures -> card sucks
If your opponent doesn't have any creatures to target -> card is useless

How is that overpowered?

Elements needs a "Miracle" card for each element and could easily be the Darkness version.

SG, if you say so... How about it costs 12 :darkness and 10 :darkness upped? And it drains all :darkness. Effect is instant, no poison.

Well, I'm not saying it has to be the way I like it. I just meant that the original idea wasn't as overpowered as some people suggested simply because the card is situational. Also I feel you took a huge step back with your second version.

The 12/10 you suggest there doesn't sound too overpowered to me. It could even be underpowered. Impossible to say without beta testing.

Kael Hate, would you be so kind as to test this card for me? :P

All right, 12/10 it is. Onto the Crucible?
