Very interesting card, I like it.

I wonder though, is the cost of Disease balanced?

I'm not sure. I originally wanted it to be 4 :death, but for some reason, I went with 3. Should it be 4?

At first I thought it should be 4 :death | 2 :death to match the cost of Plague, but that may make the upgraded version too good. Maybe 4 and 3.

A frightening card indeed. I can't imagine its combo with boneyard, bonewall, and vulture.
My idealized elements cycle:
Water -> Fire -> Air -> Earth -> Lightning -> Metal -> Light -> Darkness -> Wood -> Water

I voted for 4 | 3 for Disease cost, because:

Plague unupped costs 4, still it only affects enemy creatures, while Corpse Pile infects *all* the creatures on the field. Though, it would cost you 9 :death and two turns for your first disease, there'd be very few occasions when you'd have any other creature besides the pile played out (except maybe voodoo, which is another great catapult fodder). The higher cost should balance out the 3turn plague-on-a-stick -- this way it would cost you 17 :death total  (thus, another 7 :death for a bonewall..) which is hard to accumulate; it'd be still better to throw it instatntly I think. Or mold it into a last minute chimera, as it loses the poison counters that way.

It would be a very nice addition to any catapult- or Death based (stall) decks this way, there are so few options for the former at the moment (Poisoned Dolls are *so* hard to make..). Great idea.

A fun thing: it could gain 2 ATK with an eclipse too! Or maybe a 'Blessed Corpse Pile'.. :]

Like the mechanics, and cost is fine at 3|3. Plague is weak, and plaguing everything limits your own offensive options. A pile of animated corpses infecting everything doesn't make as much sense as a Plague Ghoul, but that's your thematic choice. I mean, if it gets into the game the theme is going to improve anyway.

I'm still not sure about the cost. From one side, it is a reusable mass creature control. Taking Squid and Pulverizer as a base, it is clear that reusable spells cost more than the original spell. The original spell would be Plague, but going over 4 quanta for a creature ability cost is too much. However, the drawback of the skill (targeting all creatures, including your own) reduces the cost because, as you said, it limits your offense. Unupgraded Pandemonium costs 3 as well, and it has the potential to be a lot more powerful. So this is how I tried to balance it, but it might be wrong. 3 :death felt right, because it is worse than Plague. The poll is giving me a hard time too, the number of votes are too close, and the total amount of votes isn't much, either. I am leaning a bit towards 4 :death | 3 :death, so that when you upgrade it, both uses of the card gets an upgrade.

I chose the Corpse Pile theme because Plague Ghoul is an idea already on the forum (I think). There were also corpses thrown with catapults in the medieval age, so I found it fitting for a catapult fodder. It is not supposed to be animated or anything, it's just a pile of corpses that is rotting away. With a bit of energy spent (death quanta), you can hasten and empower this, so that everything is infected on the field. Sitting beside rotting corpses is bad for your health. :)

It was an example. You can easily come up with something more fitting. Flinging corpses into a besieged town was a good way to spread sickness, but this is a field of Elementals warring. The current theme of cards is that they do most of the work, whereas the Elemental summons them. Something that infects -everything- would need to be a powerful conduit of Death.

I see your point. Personally, I love the theme and I doubt I will change it, unless the card falls into the Archives.

If you think about it, Catapult makes little sense too. But it is there, so why not have a card that synergizes and goes well with it?

Hmm.. Voodoo doll? :)

I think a pile of infectious, rotting corpses can be considered a good conduit, even if not the most powerful. But I do understand what you say, and you may be right.
