(Note: My apologies to the arachnophobes. Finding an image for this card was unpleasant for me too.)

Idea was inspired by anti-Air Gravity card ideas like Gravitational Anomaly (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,24851.0.html) by AngeDeMort and Anti-Gravity (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,28418.0.html) by TimerClock, although it wasn't made to synergize with those cards necessarily but to add another to the list of anti-:air Gravity cards.

Jupiter Spider|Recluse is a low-cost :gravity creature (only Graviton Merc is lower IIRC), and part of the "Spider" series like the Phase and Flesh spiders (I searched the forum and couldn't find a :gravity spider already in the Card Ideas). It also has relatively high HP for its cost (as with most :gravity creatures) and therefore resistance to CC as well. It could also have synergy with Acceleration|Overdrive.

Other than that, it isn't meant to have a clever use or as a "gamechanger", it's just an idea that popped into my head.

8 seems a bit high for 3  :gravity, but I can't complain. Not that I care.

But one thing: with the other spiders, don't we really have enough anti- :air? It only takes so much to deflect a sky blitz.

Gravity doesn't really have much anti- :air

This would be devastating with overdrive.

No no, not just in Gravity. IMHO, one or two 'web' creatures is enough, for Airborne, in reality, doesn't affect the metagame much.

Thanks for the feedback!

I discussed this with TStar and others in chat -- they suggested a stat sum of 6 for unupped and 9 for upped, like the other spiders (3|3, 4|2; 6|3, 7|2). As a :gravity creature though, we thought its HP would have to be higher than its ATK, to fit thematically with its element. But a 2|4, 2|7 or a 3|3, 3|6 creature didn't feel quite right to me. From what I've seen people are more likely to value damage potential (ATK) over stalling potential (HP), IMO the reason for all the rushes and firestalls in Arena which focus mostly on dealing damage. So I felt like, cost being equal, the value of a creature with high HP was less than that of a creature with high ATK. That's why I raised the Jupiter Spider's HP so that it exceeded the stat sum that the other two spiders had.

That was just my reasoning though. I'm open to suggestions on how to change the stats.

No, Mercenary costs 1 more for 1 more attack unupped, and one less for 3 less HP upped.  It's different enough that it seems okay.
