NOTES:
Edit- clarified resistive, matching that of the mechanic on thunderslug to prevent abuse with gravity pull.

The idea originally applied to thunderslug as a balancing mechanism for it's capacitive skill, but I thought it would be a nice defensive buff for other creatures as well.

Creatures with barkskin are still vulnerable to instant-kill effects such as devour, catapult and freeze+shockwave.

Not bad, just that counter-CC cards becomes dead cards when opponent runs little CC...
It'll be interesting to see this with rage potion though.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

Normally this kind of effect (DR, increased hp, ...) is usually put in Earth. (obviously that is not your goal)

We agree that elemental dilution is something to be avoided yet we also agree that elements do not get to monopolize all their effects.
Entropy is the most random element but many other elements have some lesser magnitude random cards (though Gravity will probably never get one).

(regardless of the name and element I like this new mechanic)
I am curious about your opinion on the interactions between Resistance and Gravity Pull or Heavy Armor.

whoops, forgot about the part of the resistive mechanic which protects the creature from status effects (ie gravity pull, adrenaline, momentum, immaterial, delay, etc) which was devised for thunderslug to prevent gravity pull abuse, will correct it.  stat effects such as blessing/heavy armor/antimatter will still function normally.

i agree, defense is an earth niche, but with other elements having anti-cc (quis, cloak etc), it isn't anywhere near as blasphemous as random effects or upon death effects.  that said, the theme could easily be changed to :earth, would just need a name other than stone skin, basilisk blood or heavy armor and changing the hue of the art.  the real question would be, does earth need something of this sort in addition to the aforementioned cards.

Earth's anti CC niche is characterized by strength and durability contrasted by the avoidance of Immaterial or Invisible (like Hax Shield and Skull Shield for random effects). Resistance seems to fall in that niche. I would prefer to see this end up in Life. Mostly to give Life anti-CC and to make the Heavy Armor combo a duo.

Is there a way to further stress the Life theme so it seems less like a strength based resistance theme?

you could make a case that amigo/gravity pull are strength based defenses as well, but i see your point.  but considering that life has many examples of natural defenses (life is a natural arms race after all), be it wood bark, exoskeletons or even immune systems, i can see giving :life one "strength based" cc defense and leaving the rest with :earth, which doesn't need any more.  This card is really just a means to incorporate the resistive passive I had already created into a new card to apply to other creatures.

also, dodging is an alternative, but would be more like :air, and ive already made cards with similar mechanics.

Good point.

I think it is well placed in Life. Life's usually low creature hp is balanced with the mono usage.

Remind me when this hits the crucible. It is a good replacement for Lignification in my opinion and would receive my vote.
