Just to clarify, cause I'm a little confused, if you have a mark of fire then you just lose  each turn instead of losing HP?

Yes, and it works for both sides.

Refers to both sides. If there's no fire to be absorbed, you pay with HP instead


Hmm I see that the description causes some confusion. I'll try to fix it.

So even if you can't pay the absorption cost, it stays on the field taking max HP. I see a very decent stall deck with Stone Skin and this card. Stacking these on top of each other just makes it easier and easier to wait out the opponent.
