what? no phoenix jokes? then again, with phoenix's nature, might this not seem too strong for fire?

is there a strong synergy between fire and death? the wiki says

The duo should not be forced in such an overt manner.

Either have it be
a death card that triggers on any death [my preferred]
a fire card that triggers on any death [my distant 2nd choice]
a death card that triggers on a death creature's death
or a fire card that triggers on a fire creature's death

This is the only one that would apply.  It only works with your creature deaths.

I know that it is a death effect, but all cards die and the match will changed when that happens.  This card isn't meant to be run in a deck where you focus on killing off all of your creatures; you have to kill an expensive creature for the effect to mean much.  I meant for it to take the impact of having a ton of glass cannon creatures down a notch.  If I make it so that it does not activate on Dead / Alive and change the card refund, do you think it would fit more in :fire?

This thing seemed dead inside. It seemed like an automaton, trying to act like as if it was alive. The effect was unsettling.

I think this is the quintessential Death anti CC motif. Fire's anti CC motif would be more retribution focused IMHO. This is a resilience based anti CC it would fit best in a resilience based element rather than a retribution based element.

Thanks - I had accidentally set the card to a creature while making it, then realized my mistake once I began to make the OP, but I only fixed the links, not the table :/

Just a flaw in the notes.  How would a dead Amethyst Dragon give you 1 :fire ?  Or am I mis-interpreting it?

It rounds down - however, it will always give at least 1 :fire.  That includes killing off a 0-cost creature.
