NOTES:
This shield comes into play as if the opponent cast it.  Not only kills opponent's shield but grants a temporary mass Quintessence effect.

I felt this would work well with a Ray of Light deck.  But, any deck that relies on squishy creatures would benefit.

Thanks for the feedback, this was my first attempt to submit a card the right way.  I learned a lot.  Hopefully the submission meets the standards now.

I love the Aurora artwork *envious stare* ... I've been looking all over for something like that for a card idea I had way back when.

Mechanically, its definitely quite unique... the shield based auto-quint, I mean. The forced shield replacement has been suggested before though...

The first issue I have is that it probably should not be able to forcibly replace an immaterial shield. Or at the very least it should send it back to owner's hand instead of destroying it.

More importantly, however, mass quint is a VERY powerful effect. Even when limited to creatures with small attacks. This is especially true when you consider that this card simultaneously allows denial of one of the few counter avenues to untargetable cards (shield effects).

While the cost seems appropriately high for a forced shield replacement, the mass auto quint should earn it a MUCH higher bump.

...Honestly I think auto-quintescence is likely to be near unbalanceable at present. Especially since this also presents simultaneous shield counter.

The biggest issue is that a permanent splash quint is just too powerful. There needs to be some way for it to either get pulled back off or come back off on its own.

One very cool solution would be to have the immortality only last as long as the shield remains. That could actually work out very well.

This cards primary focus would then be as shield counter, with the immortality as a side effect.

The really cool thing about that is that it would encourage players to pack more than one or two shields in a deck. The extra shields would gain additional value as a means to cope with the splash immortality effect.

Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

Thanks for the feedback!  I like your idea.  I like it a lot.  Just wondering if I can get all that text into the text box.

Maybe,

Shield.  Cast as if by opponent.
While Kaizan Breach is active your opponent's creatures have immortality.
Kaizen Shield lasts 1 turn.

Now gives all your creatures immortality, but only for one turn.  What do you think?  (would be 2 turns for Rift)

Makes sense to me.

As a final note, forcing replacement of opponents shield is akin to giving all your creatures momentum for 1 turn as well (since there is no shield to stop them anymore). This is an important point to consider as well... though it is not as bad as permanent mass immortality, it will still have a big bearing on cost considerations...
I'm not sure where to start at for balance there, but some thing to help you out:

-Deflag costs 3 :underworld , 2 :underworld upgraded
-Seraph's ability costs 1 :underworld ... this would affect about 5 creatures on average (most players will get 3 to 7 in play for the average deck and game length) ... so thats about 5 :underworld

That would give about 7 to 8 :underworld .

The immaterial is dispellable, however, so that would lead to a cost reduction... I'm not sure how much though.

So 5 :aether seems reasonable enough for the unupped version, though it is probably slightly on the low side for the upped version.

Long story short though, this card could be pretty potent and I'm not sure how big of an impact it will have on metagame.
It would be good to:
1) get an opinion from an experienced PvP'er (or two or three if possible)
2) see if you can get someone to play test it with / for you.

I really do like this card. It adds some fun possibilities and could lead to some interesting strategy behind its application.
I wish you the best of luck with it in the polls.

I know this is completely different thematically, but if you want that effect you might as well do:

Spell - Destroy enemy shield. For up to X turn[s], until a new one is played, your creatures gain immortality.

Btw: good card.
