NOTES:
"removed from the field" includes by rewind or death. If the dragon's health would drop to 0, then Aegis will be destroyed instead of the dragon. Unless there is another Aegis in play then or the dragon is healed to have HP above 0, the dragon will die when it attacks. This is a subtle nerf to reverse time and a subtle buff to acceleration and rage potion.
Quote from: Dragon Element
N - You cannot play this card unless you have exactly [no more than, no less than] N dragons on your side of the field. This card does not drain quanta, etc.

Well, phase dragon, with 6 HP, lasts 6 turns, on the 6th turn you put your first Aegis up.
When phase dragon attacks, its health becomes 0 and Aegis is destroyed.
Your next turn, you put another Aegis up. Phase dragon's health becomes -1 and Aegis is destroyed.
Ad infinitum until you run out of Aegis.

I think upped cost woud be 1 because that's the normal cards upgrading(yes, I know that card doesn't use quanta)

Actually, the difference between one and two damage reduction costs quite a lot shield-cost-wise.
Compare Shield(1) with Tower Shield(5)
