Title: Minor Phoenix Turns Into Aether Pendulum After Death
Post by: jippy99 on April 16, 2012, 10:43:55 pm
This has happened to me twice already, the first time I wasn't paying that much attention so I didn't take a screenie.  The second time, I was playing the death/entropy ai3.  My MP had 1 poison counter on it and it died.  When it died, it turned into an Aether Pendulum for 1 turn, then die again and turned into Ash.

I had the same thing happened to me, only mine happened when I used Cremation on the Minor Phoenix.  It only lasted until I hit space, and then reverted to a normal Ash and acted accordingly.

Huh. A few months back, when I was trying to test Phoenix+Afla interaction, I gave the trainer AI a 30x minor phoenix deck. Using precog, all I could see were these weird Aether pillars with dark marks on them. Didn't think much of it at the time; assumed that it was because I was trying to give the AI >6 copies of a card. Now that it's cropped up again, I'm not so sure :3

Seems to be the default card or something. Seeing both Cremation and MPs makes me think you ended your turn quickly after Cremating the MP, right? Has caused trouble before.

I actually didn't end my turn quickly.  I took my time to take the screenshot, save it to my computer, crop the image, upload it to imgur, and even display it in chat before I ended my turn.

That's exactly the same card that shows up in the spins if you use the Holy Cow code in trainer (I even saved it to my profile on the old forum):

If you try to use it in a deck, weird stuff happens. It seems to have the same effect as whatever card was played just before it.

Remove Phoenix from game. It just causes too many bugs.

Aether Pendulum with a darkness primary element and a time secondary and a glitchy cost is the "default" card which will substitute everything else that is unknown, I guess this is because it's the very last card of all of them.

Speaking of Phoenix, its' phoenix ability (especially with Minor Phoenix) is glitchy, and can create many kinds of strange effects.

EDIT: Maybe this is because they're the same skill, and that bugs would be fixed by giving Minor Phoenix an own?

AI firestorming my creatures and the MP turns into an Aether Pendulum:

I cremate the Aether Pendulum, turns into Ash:

So this bug hasn't been fixed yet :(

Ah, this actually happened to me a month or two ago, I cremated my phoenix and it turned into an aether pendulum.  I'm actually kind of surprised this happened to other people too :o

I don't think I need to post yet another screen shot.  But I did cremate it, and it turned into another ash.  It doesn't really cause any major problems, as it's like a spark in the way that it has 0 hp and then turns into an ash.  Although I'm not sure if the ash would have to wait an extra turn to be turned back into a phoenix... maybe that would be a problem.

hello, I am aware this has been 60+ days for the topic however, I found another way I haven't found on this forums just yet.

1.) have someone cast phoenix (Upped)
2.) Cast Shard of Readiness on him
3.) use the shards ability (Which will be nothing on a phoenix)
4.) Sacrifice the phoenix

then the reason I am mentioning this in steps is, next turn when they try an revive it, it wont be able to revive and it will kick you from game saying you won? that is a pretty interesting glitch there... also we tested a few times to make sure it was doing that, and you can do it on yourself but if you cast the phoenix and so the whole thing on you, it will kick the other player saying they won, and you will play the ai... weird, just no one mentioned other people being kicked so i figured this way might of been a new way of achieving the glitch not known yet.

It also sounds like an exploit and shouldn't really be told in public...

Actually you don't have that much benefit. It helps your opponent. (In case of casting yourself)
You only get just one more free Immo target, which lasts just one turn then dies into an ash, for 3 :rainbow and one card.

I was able to reproduce this following the steps mentioned. Specifically,

Play Minor Phoenix+SoR
Wait one turn
Use skill (does nothing)
Use cremation on Minor Phoenix

The result is 0|0 Aether Pendulum (with Darkness and Time marks), with the skill "0  Phoenix". This subsequently turns into the appropriate Ash, but you cannot revive it the next turn as you would normally.

It does not kick players from the game and does not autowin.

However, on the one PvP2 test I did,
My first turn I played minor phoenix, he did nothing
My second turn I played SoR+Cremation, achieving the Aether Pendulum
His second turn he played an SoR on... nothing. Not sure if this is related.

Actually, using the phoenix ability didn't entirely block the phoenix, it was blocked only for 1 turn.
This appears to be a minor glitch (in normal game).
Probably in PvP it causes a desync that ends the game?
