I know it's a real word, it's just such a lousy word when compared to "vengeful" which means the same thing.

How good or bad a phrase sounds is quite important in this context and, atleast for me, that unnecessary "re" has made all the difference here.

Well, you can usually tell who won the contest before the voting thread was even up.  When I made these cards, I had no doubt in my mind that the FFQ was the card to beat, and when the time came, I realized I wouldn't be the one who beat it.
